Stihl KM 131R kombi review

You ever get into poison ivy with those? I’m just getting over a case but from cutting wood, but I’m always on the look out when weed eating.

No, We have poison neddles (spelling?) up here but we've never been bother by it while whacking. While doing this we are covered in green plant slime from your knees down.

I think it’s spelled nettles? We have them here too. Not near as bad as poison ivy.

Poison Ivy/Oak is worse. Arly may be referring to bull nettle. It’s bad but nothing like poison ivy, if you are allergic.

Hey, Arl, I’m getting closer to a KM131 and it looks like there is an attachment extension that fits these, makes the reach a little longer.
would come in handy with the chainsaw to get to some higher limbs.
Just wondering if you have used the extension attachment or has any opinion on them?

Yes, you need the extension to reach anything over 10ft or so (that's really a guess) and the good thing for safety, is with it you can get out from under that limb you are cutting. I got the steel version and now, I wish I'd have got the carbon one. Of course it costs a bit more.

I guess the carbon would be lighter weight and that helps. Didn’t realize there was a carbon option. Thanks!

The steel version was on the heavy side, more so than our echo extensions are.

We'll be camping and using our Stihl kombi clearing a trail this weekend!

The combi system is nice with the ability to break it down for hauling and moving it to the job site over the long extendable poles. The extendable is able to be longer at a sacrifice to the lighter weight and easier to handle kombi units.

Lots of people buy these extendable pole saw units, then use it for 1/2 an hour and say "its to hard and heavy to use" and it sits in the garage. Because of hauling saws to work sites, we got the "break down" style and can not recommend those extendable ones. For my work and our personnel use, I've purchase around 6 of these units over a 15 year history.
