I got the WC88 in June, love it running on a 80 hp tractor set pto on 1000 and engine rpms on 1100, runs great chips every thing I'v put at it. A friend of mine has a wood max but the wc88 is built to last, alot of steel!

Absolutely no regrets. Even at 21 hp at the PTO, I can readily handle 3-4 inch. Those with more tractor, only the better.

Pulled the trigger on a WC68 today. Hopefully it will be here by the end of the week.

When I talked to the sale person they said I need 5 gallons of ISO 32 hydraulic oil. Any recommendations on a brand or where I could find it ? We have TSC, Rural King, Wally World, and pretty much any place under the sun. I figured TSC would have it but it doesn't look like they do. Wally World has Sinopec, I've never heard of them.

I bought mine from NAPA. Not sure the brand matters as long as the proper weight

Thanks, we actually have a NAPA in the small town I live in. I'll give them a call.

Mcastles, you're way ahead of me on WC68 work time :) I've had mine for about 3 weeks. It certainly works flawlessly - and a LOT faster than I can feed it. Yesterday I chipped one cubic yard of chips in less than an hour. I know it was 1 cuyd because I used the cardboard box that covered the chipper when shipped.

I put the box on a little m/c trailer, filled the box and and spread the chips in the garden. That system was a pretty good one-time event though. I had to tear up the box to get the chips out. I suppose a small dump trailer would be ideal, but I didn't see one sitting around in my tool area. Minor problem - I'll deal with that.

Most of my chipping was 2" - 4" trees, but still had a good many 6" size. I haven't changed the pressure springs on the feed roller, so feeding the 6" size was difficult until I learned that feeding a smaller size tree first and adding the larger ones closely following it proved to be an easy feed system. I'm guessing that cutting the tree butt at an angle would eliminate that problem.

Never had anything like a jam or hesitation. I've slowed down the feed speed some to let the chipper produce very small chips. Even at that, the WC68 works me more than enough. So far, I'm elated over the quality of the WC68. Right price, easy to set up and use, and works faster than me :)

is your FEL bucket quick connect? set a couple blocks down, set the front on it to raise it, and take it off and chip into it. when it's full, go dump it where you need the chips. I've done this with mine and it works pretty well

That is one of the best ideas I've got from TBN!

I've been wanting a wood chipper for quite awhile. This review and the videos from Woodland Mills convinced me this is the one for me.

Ordered an WC68 on Oct 18th and received it 11-1-18. Got it assembled on Saturday and began use. My gosh, I am so impressed with it's smooth and easy operation! I now see that I should have bought one a 'Long' time ago.

I am also glad to have chosen the hydraulic feed option; I don't have anything big enough to choke it out but have noticed that some branches will clog slightly and its quite easy to just bump the lever and back out for a fresh start. Everything I feed it, once it gets under the roller wheel, it just eats it up.

No challenge to the tractor at all. I have approx 21 PTO Hp and it easily eats what I feed it. I was going to take pictures but they are exactly as BLSXJ has already posted so I didn't spend any time with a camera, just bolt, check and go to work.

I went to our NAPA and they had the ISO32 Hydraulic oil. Which is really just AW 10 W hydraulic oil. $57.15 for a 5 gal can.

The only thing I found when putting it together is that the lower flap of the feed shoot doesn't quite sit flush with the main base. I took it apart and re-assembled it 2 or 3 times to see if I was doing something wrong or what. Nope. It just rests slightly lower than its matching mate. That causes some of the very small branches to catch while pushing them up into the roller. Not a problem overall and once aware of it it is easy to overcome. I may get creative with some sort of fix at a later time. For right now it's just feed and watch chips flow from the discharge chute! I'm quite jazzed with this new attachment and I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to get it. Very satisfied with the Woodland Mills machine.

Thanks BLSXJ for posting your review; it led me to decide on this machine and I'm very happy! Greg

Just a quick update. I've been chipping a bunch of dead pine and I've now clogged the discharge chute for the 1st time. This is news because I've got maybe 30 hours of chipping on the machine... and this is the 1st its happened.

how it happened... the FIL was over "helping" us clean up a small section of bush... btw he loves the chipper. I caught him a few times sticking a branch in and just starring at it getting chipped! After one of our breaks... I started up the tractor, engaged the pto, and started to move the rpm's up to pto speed.

well Mr. Eager Beaver saw the infeed roller start to spin, and jammed a 4" limb in.... I look back from the tractor, now at 540, and it sounds off and I realize nothing coming out the discharge chute!!!!

I must have given the universal "OH POOP" signal, and the FIL reversed the infeed roller. I shut down the tractor, and opened the clam shell with that Princess Auto (harbor freight) wrench I keep in the document holder.

i took a bit of work but I cleared the jam.

lesson learned..... wait till the chipper is up to speed before you... your helpers, start!

just another example of Intel inside...idiot outside!

At 30 hours your blades may be getting dull. Dull blades make stringy chips, and those clog the chute more readily.

Thanks for all the great information posted on the review and the related follow up. I ordered the Woodland Mills WC68. It came in a week and I was chipping the same afternoon I received it. I am very excited to get to work on cleaning up the property. I think the hydraulic infeed will be enjoyed by my wife. The box was well labelled so delivery guy knew what was inside. He looked around as we unloaded it and said: "you sure could use a chipper"!

I know this post is old but I am looking for long term reviews on the wc68.

I am lookin to buy a wc68 for my gc1720 19.6hp at PTO and wondering if it would be a good choice.

I have gotten good use out of mine in since the fall 2019. It has collected dust all winter, but there is lots to be chipped. The blades are like new.
I am very happy with the investment and so is my neighbour. . I really like the flexibility that comes with owning. If I rented I'd use it to exhaustion to get my monies worth. It would be a powered unit (no tractor implement rentals around here) and likely hard to get into my wooded areas.
Good luck deciding.

Have a WC46 that I run on the 2025R with 18 PTO hp. It loafs along; so, I'd say your GC with nearly 2 more hp should be fine with a WC68. Think hp goes up by sqrt of tree diameter.

The only sure chute plugger I found on the WC46 was tiny vines growing in the upper parts of the trees. After I found this out, I'd chop up the bottom of the tree and then reverse it out and make a pile for the bush hog.

Wood chip nature varies considerably with the wood, its type and wetness. We chipped up about 30 FEL sized piles this winter, and the blades are still sharp.
