I got a few more hours on the chipper, and couldn't be happier.

Nice. I've been eyeing up a Wallenstein BX52S if I can get one for the right price. A lightly used Wallenstein for $2500 vs. new Woodland Mills WC68 for $2900 is an interesting comparison. I hadn't heard of Woodland Mills before today.

I bought the wood max 8m , and they do a great job too , as they probably are quite similar . I'm very happy with mine also . I had to unload mine with my front end loader of my tractor and yes they are heavy .

Hope you guys with various chippers/shredders will publish about how easy they are to work on.

I've had 2: TroyBilt Tomahawk and MacKissic TPH-122. Both did the same good chipping or shredding job, as their innards are virtually identical. However, I would not recommend the Tomahawk to anyone because it's a beast to work on. Whereas, the MacKissic is a dream to work on.

Sorry, I don't think it a fair comparison because the woodland mills has the infeed roller, where the Wallenstien BX52S does not. You would have to jump up to the BX52R, which sells new for $6794 CDN and requires hydraulic connections to the tractor. The Woodland Mills units are self contained, just hook up the pto.

Exactly. For what you get the Woodland Mills units are a much better value IMO. For those asking about ease of maintenance just watch the detailed video Woodland Mills had on this. That video sold me on them and I am very happy with it.

Hi and thanks for the review. I have a JD 2520 with 20 hp at the pto. Do you think the WC 68 is too much? I would expect to chip typically 1-4 inch with an occasional 5 inch at slow speed.

The only other option is the Woodmaxx TM-86H made specifically for the subcompact at 15 hp (pto)

Insure it would run it, just slow which with the hyd feed is easy to do. I would call them and ask though. They are very helpful over the phone.

good and thanks.

I did talk to them and they said up to 3 in with 20 hp pto. From reading pretty extensively about this chipper, I think I can do up to 5 inches, just slowly. But 90% of what I do will be less than 4, with bigger stuff for firewood

Just a quick follow-up. I called tech service again and he was very helpful and knowledgable. He said 20 hp is on the lower end but has had customers that have gone down to 18 hp with this unit. Clearly having to lower the speed and staying below 4 inches.
