67°F and .04 inches rain.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mothers out there.
My slow paced progress will continue. I did get 1 wall of the container and half the bedroom wired. also got the meter based installed. Although this ties into my existing power I want to be able to see its usage.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

good one Buckeye.

had fun working in the garden for about an hour, put a layer of organic compost down on the potatoes and onions and then transplanted some
Four O'Clocks over to a new fence garden I'm fiddling with. Then hosed down all the veggies with a fish emulsion fertilizer which the rain tonight can
wash into the ground.
Then back started to hurt and it almost felt drizzly and colder so time to come in.
Good thing I did, started raining fifteen minutes later.

Good afternoon. It is 40 and has been raining all day. It is a fairly heavy rain too. It was actually starting to drizzle about 2:30 this morning when I got home from Lima, OH.

Yesterday was a LONG day. There was a Pro Am race at Lima OH. The fairgrounds track there is legendary in pro motorcycle racing. The amateur riders have not raced there since the early 1980’s. Was up about 4 AM, got home at 2:30 this morning. They had 322 entries, including some of the top pro riders. Pay them good money, and they will come. We had a decent day. Made all 3 finals of the classes he was entered in. Won 2 hear races.

Mowed Friday evening. Got part of it completed. With this rain, going to get things out of sequence on getting completed. It will likely be a couple of days before I can get back on the yard.

My wife isn’t feeling good. Been fighting a cold for a couple of days. Started a fire in the woodburner when we got back from the town run. May as well make it cozy in here on a cool, wet day.

Everyone stay safe out there

70 and sunny with a good breeze.

Had a lot of Mother’s Day things to do today. I still have to visit my late wife. Hard to believe this is the fourth Mother’s Day since she passed.
It’s the first time in my 68 years that I couldn’t go visit my mom, she was always there, somehow I think she still is.

My 9 year old grandson has always been an excellent ball player. This year they have him in the pitching rotation. Last game his team was up two runs in the last inning. The other team loaded the bases with no outs, coach put Tanner in to pitch and he struck out three straight. I know nobody else cares, but I’m a proud pop pop.

Was 35F, overcast, and raining @ 10:30 this morning. Calling for a high of 43F for the day.

When I got up, the rain was coming down at a pretty good clip ... accompanied by large snowflakes ... ... looked rather bizarre.

Has rained all since ... present accumulation is 0.84" ... and it doesn't show any signs of letting up anytime soon.

Was alerted by The Woman late last night that she thought there was a 'coon on the roof trying to get at the nugget and two suet feeders. Sure enough, when I shined my light up there old Rocky was staring back at me. Thought the light might blind him, but I think what actually happened is that it allowed him to see the other two feeders ... as he moved over to the nugget feeder from the suet feeder and proceeded to reach down and snatch it up to the roof. I went out out and chased him off and retrieved the nugget feeder from the roof and then brought all three of them inside.

#@$! 'coons ...

Made good progress on cleaning yesterday, still more to do today.

But first things first: acquisition of the Mother's Day Gift.

So a friend and I headed out around noon to go take a look at a possibility ... and lo and behold, the seller and I came to a meeting of the minds.

Just got back from picking it up.

It's an '88 EZ-GO Marathon cart with the gas (2pg) engine (Freightliner badged no less ...):

Needs a little TLC and restoration work, and probably a carb rebuild. Rubber on it seems good though (no cracking on the tires and they hold air), and the steering is tight. Motor has compression and the differential spins when you roll it.

Just what I need ... another project ...

Happy Mother's Day all !!!

That is great.

I have a story about little league pitching. My son (many years ago) played and sometimes pitched. One time, he pitched and the team lost. He was OK until another kid said he was the “losing pitcher”. The kid wasn’t trying to be mean or anything - just said what 7 year old kids say.

My son was crying and asked me why they call the pitcher the “losing pitcher” but don’t call the 1st baseman the losing 1st baseman?

Not a talk I expected to have with a 7 year old about baseball.

Kyle, one of the joys of parenting when the young one wants to be the chauffeur. Just relax and enjoy. That might mean pretending to nap a bit.
She's got too much to learn yet, not relaxing yet....I think she's giving me a few more gray hairs on top. She's doing great, but has a few things we need to work on....checking her blind spot, keeping an eye on the rear view mirrors, and learning good driving etiquette.
Years ago I worked at a brewery. At 4:00 every day, the refrigerators in the offices were opened and free beer. Quitting time was 5:00.

We’d sit around and drink for a couple hours. All would then go home.

Times have changed a tad.

My dream job. I was shocked and saddened, when they sold out to InBev. What a great company it was. I would've enjoyed 4pm myself. My friend works at the glass bottle plant, near the Houston facility. IIRC, they can make a million bottles a day. Houston AB is one of the largest breweries in the world after the expansion decades ago.
Yes sir.

Best place I ever worked. I was there 30 years but left after InBev acquired the brewery.

When they had the free beer at 4pm I was actually working for an audit firm and we were there doing audits.

So, including auditing, I worked there almost 35 years.

Our small Shiner distributor in our hometown, always had a keg tapped, and those conical paper cups next to it....While they didn't sell much beer back then, I sure enjoyed stopping by there. And now Shiner has gone nationwide.

I care. And I love baseball. But won't watch MLB right now. I'm watching Flat Track. And other motorcycle races.

Air compressor updates....
Scroll compressor at work, went down during the Feb freeze. It would have been better if the electricity had gone out and it shut down that way, but our facility is on the main power line, and never lost power. I had posted a video of my buddy and I opening up the thermostat in the manifold for the oil/coolant. We ended up forcing it open, just letting it flow full force. Somehow, the larger air/oil separator filter split a 1" vertical slit, and spewed over a $100 worth of oil ALL over. Ingersoll rand wanted like $300 for the simple thermostat, $200+ for 2 filters, and we bought a new controller that has the contacts in it to process the on/off of the compressor. $1000ish. Anyway, we got all the new parts and oil in it finally last week, and it's running nicely. It has been shut off since Feb. She has 114,600 hours so far, (was rebuilt at 57,000 hours).

Home Speedaire:
I had put a large HD 1hp baldor on it, and it burned out something. I had gone through the original 2hp Dayton, and fixed the startup contacts (or so I thought) and new bearings. I had previously totally disassembled the pump, to put the new crankshaft needle bearings on both ends of the crank. The pump seems to have a lot of "stiction" and getting it to turn from a dead stop seems to take a fair amount of energy. I noticed the 2HP engine was "buzzing" not having the guts to get going. I believe the spring loaded startup system needs further cleaning of the contacts and possibly lubing ever so slightly. I now do NOT leave it turned on. Only running it when I am in the barn. But with my new Milwaukee power tools, I won't need air for my old impacts/ratchet anymore. Just need it to blow off stuff and filling tires etc....

Great looking pizza RNG.

We just got back from the local clinic. My son has a sore throat, congestion, fever, and an eternal hack since Thursday evening. My wife wanted him tested for Covid, since he had it back in early Feb. Test came back negative. Flu negative. Strep negative. They said his lungs sound clear. His ears looked a bit red, but no ear pain. During all the testing, his fever rose from 101F to 103.8F They gave him some tylenol and ibuprofen, then made us wait an hour for his temp to go down. It did. He's glad to be back home. Hope his fever stays down. No school tomorrow. I'm just glad he didn't have covid again.

Please tell all the moms Happy Mother's Day!
