Who Broke The Bridge?

The Huey P. Long bridge in New Orleans built in 1935 with rivet construction has won many accolades as being one of the best designed and built bridges in America. It was built so strong that when they widened it in 2013 to almost 3 times as wide as it was it needed very little extra support.

Large ships built with rivets were replaced during WWII with Liberty ships that were welded together to save time and sank nearly as quick as they were built.

Snitches get stitches...

The point was...if the person doing the banning mistakenly thought a post was political in nature and banned the poster...it would be without (just) reason...

But then again there's likely a lot of innocent people behind bars...

Behind the scenes, almost every reported post is due to politics now. Very rarely to we dismiss a report as rejected... maybe 1 in 20. Most require action. That action is almost always just locking threads or deleting posts. But we probably need to issue short term bans more for people to get the message. I think we've been very lenient over the past year. But with that has come more casual disregard for the rules... so we probably need to issue short term bans more for people to get the message. Even that is subtle compared to other sites that hand out permanent bans after just one rule violation.

And no matter who is signing the checks, Alabama, Tennessee or the feds, the people doing the work are likely to be private contractors not federal or state employees. The only difference is who's overseeing them and who signs the check.

and that's the way it should be. private sector doing the work with a SMALL dedicated group to oversee.

Now we got the private sector doing a lot of the work with a HUGE apathetic unmotivated bullet proof undedicated group to supposedly oversee.

Lots of examples...Private sector dmv offices, private soil scientists that can perk your land-in days....not 6 weeks! And the retired govt employees who magically become private sector "consultants".

It's just another load of BS and the ONLY reason people don't complain is because virtually everyone has someone close to them, employed by the govt.

Pretty sure nobody has ever been banned from TBN for no reason. Maybe debatable reasoning but there's always a reason.
I miss (removed)? I know some did not like his accent but i did. I thought he had a good sense of humor....and reality.....and i guess...welding?

A tax return is the document you file annually to support the amount of tax paid. A tax refund is the amount of excess withholdings that are returned to you (if any) after your tax liability is calculated.
I don't have withholdings either. Does nobody here make quarterlies? At tax time you don't get a refund, you make your last payment for the previous tax year.

Isn’t your fourth quarter estimate due Jan. 15? You have all your tax forms by Jan. 15?

I bet most of those reports come from one of a few goody two shoe's that probably pees their pants a little every time they see something they can report...!

Whenever off topic posts are allowed...sooner or later the underlying politics will always find their way to the surface...having a zero tolerance rule is fine with no off topic postings... on topic=fine, off topic=toast...no ifs ands or but's...

Just because a filer pays quarterly does not necessarily mean they are not due a refund...

You mean like the whole tax return/refund/filing thing?

I do. But my point was you don't GET returns, you FILE returns. And apparently you do.
Maybe he meant refunds?

I'm self-employed and file quarterlies. Some years I overpay, others I underpay, never get it exactly right. If I overpay I get a refund, if it's under I mail Uncle Sam a check for the difference.

I just engaged a new tax preparer. She drives a non-flying Jeep and is based on Earth. Although we did much online it doesn't mean she didn't have an alien double-check my returns. No bridges were harmed that I know of.
