might be stupid, I've done it. is your range selector actually in gear.

still has a gear range on the left side. you chose 1,2 or three. my hip has bumped it out many times.

Intriguing. If you ever get a chance, snap a pix and share here. I only have experience with the YM and JD 50 Series machines. The F & FX have limited info out there. This would be worth noting.

His is a F24, only a gear shifter model. The FX24 has PowerShift.
His F24 also has a range shift. A little late here but look close to the end of this video look at left hand side of seat for range selector.

thanks Winston

I have had many yanmar tractors, from 1610 up to 2820. I thinks they all also had range selectors has well has the 4 speeds.
even had a fx28d that had the 4 speeds, plus 3 ranges plus a splitter that worked will all gears.

well crap now I've sent this post off topic, sorry.

We can always get back OT when the OP returns with new info. :)

So, Yanmar makes 3 shifting mechanisms then.

1. Basic clutch and gear stick.
2. PowerShift
3. RangeShift

So, with the RangeShift, does the clutch have to be pressed in to shift?

The YM1610 and YM2820 are PowerShift machines.

They will all have range shifters. Usually there are 3 or 4 range gear options. The only real option is powershift or standard gear shift (and some F series have a super low creep option available). So the 1610, for example, has 4 ranges (1,2,3 and Creep) and a 3 speed powershift for a total of 12 forward and 4 reverse gears.

Yes. Have bumped it many of times with my big butt. That was the first thing I checked. Went through all 3 gears on range as well as all gears on other shifter.
