Do you hear it click when you attempt to start it? I had that problem on my John Deere 2240 and found that the Key Switch was the problem. The tractor is a 1980 model with original key switch.Hi folks..gravelman My 2650 will not start..actually the starter will not engage. Been working fine all am, went to crank , nothing...checked as many connections as i could or know of...no fuses blown. juice to everything else on machine. Any ideas out there??? thanks much have to call road service i guess..
That^Just throwing this out there because I've been burned twice on this. On two occasions over the last 5 years I've had a similar issue. Starter won't engage, click, or do anything, but I've got lights and gauges. Turns out I had a bad ground from frame to battery both times. Ground was good enough for small things, but not good enough to engage the starter. I'm sure you've already thought about this, but just in case.......
Exactly why I say check with a multi-meter. May look good at both ends but somewhere in the middle those little bastards…I had a mouse chew the pto safety switch wires
