Pre game antics like kneeling in protest? Wearing socks with pigs on them to protest police? Pregame antics like the entire Steelers football team except ONE player not coming out of the locker room for National Anthem?
You definitely aren’t watching if you haven’t heard/seen that pre game nonsense.
Moreover, why can one player wear pigs on his socks, which IS a uniform violation of the NFL btw, yet another team like the Dallas Cowboys, not wear symbols to support the country?
Its the hypocrisy that bothers me as much as the hating symbols and actions.
These guys are making fantasy money to give a big middle finger to the country. That bothers me.
It bothers you because YOU let it bother you, no one else.

As far as the anthem and NFL games, when you watched Bill Bergy play at the Vet, was he out standing on the sidelines for the NA? I honestly never noticed nor cared. But keep in mind, it wasn't until about 12 years ago where players were REQUIRED to stand on the sidelines during the song. Wonder why? ;)

.. What I see is people making a big deal over nothing because they want to make it something, and the news uses it as tool like anything else.

I also don't think pro sports is hurting for money.

.. I forget what my dad was reading on his notebook, .. it was nothing more than an ad laid out to look like news.

You know what they say, if it's written on the internet, it has to be true ;)

.. Just seems that some people tend to go crazy over their sport teams and I kind of laugh to myself when fans start trash talking each other and they aren't even playing the game.

I'd like to see the NFL's tax records. It's a business, no? But IIRC they don't pay taxes, teams pay their 'dues' (1M/franchise/yr) and it's all spent on ads and executive 'salary' to look like a non-profit. IMO pro sports is too much like a religion anyway, esp the NFL and the NBA. Difff'rent strokes, diff'rent pastimes... I'd rather watch birds. o_O

btw, when does an ad NOT look like news anymore??

Never knew NFL teams didn't pay taxes.

Ironic how teams threaten to move to another city and the host city ends up to figure out ways to keep them there with building incentives.

End of the day, I wouldn't miss pro sports really one bit if it disappeared, won't happen though, too much money involved.

Let he who has never derailed a thread cast the first stone on that thread derailment.

I'm pretty certain YOU'VE been down this road ;)
Actually... my point was how does one go from purple paint to the NFL? Not derailment of the thread. But... point well taken as I will plead the 5th on this...

As someone mentioned, after a couple of hundred of posts on the same subject, it's bound to happen.

I believe the proper terminology is "shooting the ***** via typed electronic communication instantly" 😁

I'm guilty, and heck I'm the OP. My only point is to beware of the purple paint law because I wasn't familiar with it, which is why I started the thread;)

NFL teams pay taxes.

The NFL (the employer of Roger Goodall) does not pay taxes. It’s a 501(c)6. Complicated but you can look it up if you want.

But all the NFL teams pay.

Teams do pay their taxes, and membership 'fees' to the 'league' which still doesn't.

btw, IMO if an OP doesn't complain about where a thread wanders it might be more interesting than the original topic. :coffee:
