Is there any food you do not like?

Brother married a Thai woman. She makes "stinky fish", basically just rotten fish .
They also drink this fermented liquid the people in her village would all spit in. My brother ate a hamster once.
I'd prefer peanut butter on crackers than lots of exotic junk.
My wife's Filipino. Enough said! Oddly, however, she thinks she knows what balut is- she does not (she's more of a city girl); pretty sure that if she got the real thing that she'd have a different feeling about it, what it REALLY is. Took me a while to understand that fish sauce is others' ketchup (seems to go on EVERYTHING).

Winter starts feeling more gloomy thinking about her sneaking in some smelly fish fry: she's become more thoughtful later in life and tends to set up cooking this stuff outside (even in the cold).

And then there's the puzzling thing about her insisting on keeping the bedroom door closed so that the room doesn't get stunk up. It's the same food that you're eating!

I'm pretty sure, based on the smell, that I wouldn't like the stinky fish. There are some risks in life I'm willing to take. This is not one of them!

But, on food that I've tried that I won't eat again...

English, British food! Spent a a couple of months working in several countries in Europe and everywhere food was stellar (not a bad meal to be had- I ate escargot, and while I'm not interested in eating it again I can't say that it was horrible), EXCEPT for the UK! They cannot cook!

And then there's food that doesn't like ME (allergies- sucks). So, those, I suppose I do not like (refuse to eat). Look up Oral Allergy Syndrome. Could be worse, it could be something that's life threatening (it's not, but it can be very uncomfortable).

I have heard that but I have never been there and likely never will. Please expand, what is it about UK food that is a no-go?

Pretty much anything that comes from the continent of Asia. I am not interested in eating anything they have. I would starve to death in Asia. Especially Thailand, they put peanuts in everything. Death sentence for me.

Love pad Thai, although it’s probably Americanized

BLAND AS HELL!

I remember being really hungry as I was flying into Heathrow airport. They served crap on a cracker (as the airplane was wing-waving coming in for a landing- lot of side wind), or, well, that's the best description that I can recall of it! Kind of thinking that "fish and chips" was about the only thing that seemed remotely semi-appetite-quenching (wihtout a pinching of the nose). It's like they pretend stuff is "food." I did not run into any meaningful ethnic food there, so good chance that there's actually some decent food to be had in Britain*, but traditional British food, ugh!

* I know that there had to be (and it would likely be larger now) a sizeable number of folks from India in Britain. Oddly, however, it was Oslo, Norway in which I first encountered Indian food, and it was (blasphemous to this thread) THE BEST!

In heaven the germans are the engineers, the french the cooks and the english the police.

In hell the germans are the police, the french are engineers and the english are cooks.

UK food is quite different now, and up there with other european cuisines.
Took them a long time to get there though. Had amazing food and loved walking London each day..
I worked there many times and my Uncle lived there for many years.
Weather can be dull, but so is Paris area.

Always found it funny that sandwiches are buttered and getting coffee or tea without milk can be a chore :)
