Kubota M7060,Kubota MX 4700hst, Kubota B7100hst, Kubota RTV 900,
I have a Kubota MX4700 4 wheel drive. The manual says the front axle and gear cases hole 9.5 qts. I drained mine completely. Only drained about 5 qts. When I refilled, only held around 5 qts. Any one else out there ran into this. Thanks for you feed back in advance. Usually manuals are closer than this, in my experiences.

How many plugs did you pull when you drained it?

When I drained my L4701 4wd, the manual stated 6.9 quarts - averages about .86 gal per side. (if my math is correct). I did not measure it, but I think my old oil was a fair amount less also. I stopped with one side. I needed more 80-90. I did not measure it, but I plan on finishing today and will measure what comes out. I am thinking that where the bottom of the container is in relation to the drain plug, there may be some that cannot drain. Flushing is not an option, I guess maybe do and extra change to see if it clears up.

NOTE: THIS IS AN EDITED CORRECTION: Probably like mine - L4701. Good Point - There in only one drain plug on the right side no fill or check plug., but all three (drain, fill, and check) plugs on the left side. The right side has only a drain plug. The fill and check plug should be removed first to permit air flow. I orginally thought both sides were the same. I was mistaken. I am beginning to think the bottom doesn't drain. The drain plug is about 3" above the bottom of the container.

Yeah for those models without the two on the bottom there is a bit less, but not 3+ quarts worth. For there to be that much not to be called for sounds like one of the bottom plugs was not pulled.

If all three plugs were pulled, then I'd run the numbers to see if it was a conversion. Fairly sure that most kubota manuals quote metric[Standard], but it seems possible imperial standard versions might be out there. Off the cuff, 3.5 seems too large for a conversion error.

I let it drain until there was nothing coming out. I left it draining for an hour and a half.

I was very pleased with the appearance of the fluid that I drained out. It was pretty clean looking. I also ran a magnet through it and didn't pick up any metal. I feel good about all that, but the capacity has me baffled.

I know it takes a long time to drain. Refilling takes even longer. Took three days to fill the M59 front axle with correct amount gear lube. Good thing I wasn’t in a hurry. Maybe that’s another reason they use sudt. Wonder how the dealers do it?

On the B26 changed after mowing with the loader lifting the front axle off the ground and rotating the wheels. 5qt went in and out quicker. Still took 4 hours. Used synthetic Lucas gear oil helped too.

Something similar to a mityvac, might even be made by them.
