Ya, plastic fans have been around a long time. Never seen one explode before though. Makes me want to go check mine out with the bore scope

Yea. I know the been around 25 years. But ain’t seen one come apart like this. Wouldn’t hurt to chk it out from time to time.

Bad plastic, a type of cleaner used, fumes from battery or a liquid,.....it would be nice to know the cause.

Exactly! Battery nowhere close to fan. No chemicals has been used on tractor. Bought new. Plastic from fan was brittle. Kept under shed. So no uv rays. I’m guessing it was just a poor mix of plastic when molded.

When you go to pick it up from the dealer, give it a good bend before paying for it to do an "integrity" check on the materials used. If it breaks tell them you want one that isnt made of confetti and glue!

Plastic fans can explode after exposure to. Heat. Cold. Heat. Cold. Ka-boom. One blade gets out of wack and that takes out the rest of the blades either by interference *wack!* or imbalance *wobble, wobble*

I'm just so pleased that I saw the deterioration in time (refer photo posted earlier on the LG fan). The damage to the radiator would likely have been severe had it disintegrated!

And thinking back, it was a really tight fit replacing it with the new one. That's when I bought a set of ratchet ring spanners!!!

I agree that plastic can become brittle after time but less than 400 hours? It does get pretty hot here in the summer. 100 plus with humidity around 80 to 90%. Makes it feel like 115-120. But this summer wasn’t too bad. Only a few days like that. And we really haven’t had a cool snap yet. Until today. Never got out the 50s. Reckon four years could dry rot the plastic. And there’s two fins I still haven’t found. Just lucky it didn’t mess anything else up. New one should be in by tomorrow and get it back going Sunday or Monday.

Dk4510 350 hrs. Plastic fan disintegrates. Nothing hit fan, no chemicals, no warning. Just comes flying apart like a drunk girls outfit on a Saturday night. Not just one blade from fan. All of em! Glad it didn’t send shrapnel thru the radiator or bend the fins. What y’all think bout this? I ain’t never seen it before.
Pay attention to the water pump the bearings tend to wear out after 700-1000 hours. They let go without warning regardless if changing antifreeze on normal cycle. Had this issue on LK3054 dealer warned me when I bought unit used. Kioti and kubota notorious for water pump failures notably due to design and belt load. Other than that they are most robust motors on the market.

Have to disagree with the water pump failures on Kubota, I have about 8 here ranging from 650-4000+hrs and all on the original WP, at least 4 of them are over 3000hrs. The newest one is 2010 and the oldest is sometime in the 80's.

As for the fan, guessing either improper material selection or as stated just a bad mix.

Been on this site a long time.
Don't recall reading about any water pump failure issues on Kioti or Kubota.
My Kioti is 20 years old with 2350 hours.
Original water pump.
