Rim guard or not? Why a ballast box instead of boxblade?

My bad, I thought you initially said the draw bar, not the hitch. So now I'm guessing you are either welding this 3x12x30 piece to the bottom of the draw hitch or you've fab'd a drawbar that will go into the hitch to hold it in place, correct?

I don't have much more room than what my drawbar will fit in that hitch opening, sorry for being confused..
I'm a little confused also, so welcome to the club. :)

I would be curious to know how much additional weight you would add doing this. Doesn't seem (to me) it would be very much more than the actual draw hitch itself.
There have been MANY mentions of a box blade as additional weight,,
My 6 foot box blade is so light, I can pick up one end.
Replacing that weight with a steel bar would be easy.

If you want REAL weight, get something like the weights I bought for a couple hundred dollars,,
(Maybe it was only $100,,!??)

It is the rear ballast off of a John Deere track loader a guy was scrapping,,
I haven't tried it, yet, but, I doubt that my 584 IH front end loader could lift the weight set.
I can lift it with the 3 point hitch,,

I am pretty sure this concrete casting weighs over 2,000 pounds,
No three point hitch ballast, but the tires are filled with methanol, and water.

Running over lawn in 4wd can rut up lawn worse than loaded tires.

I’ve seen those on construction sites, usually larger and pulled by a large ag tractor. I think the idea is you push the dirt out of the box scraper while moving and the roller hits it to help compaction.

Yep. And the scarifiers are to cut off high areas if needed. If it was a sheep's foot filled with liquid it would be awesome for building a pad.

That little tractor can barely move that across the parking lot. If the lawn is soft enough for the roller to do any good the little tractor won't be able to drag it. But it makes a cool pic!!!

Looks like the 48" width unit calls for 25-35 HP.
