Snow Forecast For Virginia

We have about about worse case scenario here, lots of saturating rain, then quick temp drop while raining creating ice, then a heavy fine snow. Now the flakes are getting bigger but not letting up, sounds like fireworks going off from trees snapping and uprooting.

Had just gotten outside and was watching when this one blew appart, luckily minor damage since it broke in 2 places and went backwards. I hate pines

Oh and for good measure I put the blade on the tractor and the snow blower in the Sunstar, lift cylinder hose started leaking on Sunstar so hopefully that doesn't negate its anti-snow abilities!

If you can get out you should have that hose replaced with a new one as the leak will only get worse and............... you dont want to be out of hydrualic oil in the sunstar.

It started around 6 this morning and this pic was taken around 8:55. We just had "thunder snow" as well.

Do the clothes lines have snow on them yet???

AH, your not lucky enough to have a route where the jet rolls under a barn on the jet way with a huge array of infrared heaters to melt off the ice and snow??

As is very typical for our area the forecasters are now upping the amount from 3 to 6 to 6 to 12 and they are already closing the schools. The most likely outcome will be no snow and the forecasters telling everyone how hard it is to forecast the weather in this area.

When that storm went thru here they said 5-8". We got maybe 4".

We got about 3" here, 40 mins west of Roanoke. I got to use my blade. Semi-optional except if you get most of it off the sun should help clear it better. I'm taking credit for my daughter and son in law getting a UPS delivery right after I plowed their driveway...

They built one in JFK... But never used it, so we took the procedures out of the manuals. Also, those are only good for deice, not anti ice... which limits their practicality

Nothing of consequence predicted for New England but I took my plow off in an attempt to trick the snow gods here

The weather liars are all astir that we are going to have snow tonight and tomorrow morning. Since this could be the first snow of the season they are in the full "abandon your car now" frenzy even though it is not predicted to arrive until morning and it is currently 60 degrees F outside.

For those folks who might be concerned I can assure you that now that I have put the "it will never snow when this blade is put on the tractor" snow plow we are safe and you can plan on a beach day tomorrow.View attachment 727636

Apparently the neighboring counties got off pretty easy, most seem to have gotten 7-9in, I measured 16in here!

We had 5" on the grass, and ZERO on the road, or driveway,,

It took 2 hours of sled pulling with the ATV to get the grandchildren to switch from a grin to a smile,,

EVERYONE had a great time,, it was perfect snowman.snowball snow,,
but, HORRIBLE to ride an unpowered sled on,,
Luckily, the ATV fixed that,,

Yeah, it was too deep to sled in, pulled my younger son over to my parents house behind the tractor. Felt bad, it was his birthday and we couldn't get the requested McDonald's for dinner or pick up his cake from Walmart (both were closed and the roads were a mess anyways).

Everything is freezing tonight with a low of 18, power company is saying 10pm for power restoration.
I'll be assesing damage as the snow melts, just about every building on the property got hit and the wife's car took some damage also.
