snow blade rubber edge help

Cutting the tread off of a truck tire is a great way of building character.

One local tire shop cuts the sidewalls off of their scrapped tires and piles the (intact) treads out back. Looks like it would be easy to make just-the-tread into a squeegee edge. Don't know if that's a new thing at tire shops everywhere. Also wonder why they do it that way... Save space? Sell the sidewalls?

Maybe they sell the tread for the bottom of flip flops. I've seen fancy leather sandals with tire tread soles.

Tire sidewalls are the preferred hold downs for bunker silo and silage pile plastic cover hold downs.
They do a good job of holding the plastic down on the feed to keep the air out, to reduce spoilage.
But they don't collect water like a complete tire will and they are much easier and faster to use and store.
