For once can you cut the politics? It’s simply good that we don’t pollute our water and soil with toxic waste in our own country. That’s a huge win for a cleaner environment and public health in America. We no longer have to accept those toxins in our country; we are rich and technically advanced enough to have cleaner options. Let the third world pollute their soil and water if they want to.
Theres nothing political in my post. I think you and your environmentalist gang like to cry “politics” when someone stands up to you, though. ;)

The cost to produce a barrel of oil at the well head has changed little week to week or even year to year. When the price per barrel goes up profits soar.
With all these so-called shortages investors profits keep growing at a faster than normal rate.

My brother still runs our family dairy... between fuel, pesticide, herbicide and fertilizer prices... his costs are up 100-300% this year.

I get the feeling that some people are walking around thinking none of this will have any real lasting effects. Fat, dumb, and happy as my father would say. The consumer is being hit from all sides, with no real relief in sight. The only relief will come from increasing rates and trying to slow the inflation freight train... which in and of itself has negative consequences.

We are very fortunate. An extra few hundred per month for necessities is an annoyance for us. Sadly, for many of our fellow citizens, they never had that money to begin with. It’s not very compassionate to say, well, we will just have to install solar panels and get you an electric car. With what?

Um no. We never have and never will stop sticking our noses in other countries affairs.
We HAVE significantly decreased decreased pollution in this country. We have done a LOT.

The objective of environmentalists is 2 fold. Decrease greenhouse gasses/pollution through destruction of any fossil fuel devices.
It wont end with elimination of coal and switching to NG…..
Once thats done, they will want NG eliminated, just like coal.
Rant on. I’m very happy that coal use in America is going **** up. Extremely damaging to the land in mining and coal plant toxins. An archaic way to generate power. Time moves on, things change, society advances. My coal miner grandfather who died from lung disease would have been the first to welcome the end of coal. None of those mine site lands are ever worth anything after that are “rehabbed” and the soil around the power plants is poisoned with mercury for centuries to come.

Very well stated (y)

Environmentalist gang? No I’m a practical land manager, a professional forester who produces a renewable product (wood). I do know enough about ecology to realize that polluting our soil and water isn’t sustainable long term. Foresters are trained to think long term. Most people don’t care about the future. I do.

Its not rant, its reason.
Hey if coal goes by the wayside, dont have a problem as long as the workers have relief and retraining and better opportunities.
But you know as well as I do, that this isn't about coal per say, its about the elimination of ALL fossil fuels. Even Nukes are off limits to the environmentalists.
Im a long term thinker as a farmer. I am pretty much organic now and have been for years. I am all for clean air, ground an water as long as we dont drive ourselves all into the poverty ditch doing it.

A lot of people don't seem to understand... this country runs on diesel. From seed to harvest tractors do the work. Then it's hauled to the mill or distribution center on diesel trucks. From there diesel is involved in every step to bring it to the grocery store shelves.
Warren Buffett is apparently investing in trains yet there's a reason why that stopped working years ago. Besides, the locomotive will run on... diesel.

Amen! I've even been interested in EVs since long before they became the latest fad... I just don't believe that we should be exporting our pollution to China just so that we can have "clean" fuel. Mine the lithium here, where we can (theoretically, at least) control how the waste product is handled.

Yep. And the US is the largest petroleum producing country in the world. Sad that Congress authorized US oil companies to export this resource to maximize their financial gain. Much of this resource comes from public lands owned by all Americans and yet oil companies are exporting it.
