Should I use conventional oil, or synthetic oil in my tractor.

For me it's very simple. I use the oil grade recommended in my Owners Manual. I use Rotella T4 - 15W40.
Most also recommend 10w30, which means 0w30 would be the absolute best. The 15w40 is absolute goo in cold weather. Your overhead valve gear probably is smoking by the time oil ever hits it.

I actually found T6 in stock at Walmart yesterday. I was excited and grabbed a 2.5 gallon jug. Then I saw it was only available in 15w-40 and put it back. I change oil annually, not seasonally.

That's all that's around here-1540. I need 540.

Changed over to the Farm-Rated stuff yesterday. True enough, has CJ, but not CK rating. CJ is adequate for my machine.

Maybe Rotella will become more available at some point and this stuff can become my spring change stuff.

There’s several grades (Heavy Duty and Signature Series) and viscosities of diesel oil available from Amsoil. Check it out online yourself and you can choose one you would prefer and the corresponding price. Free shipping with $100 I believe. I’m in Canada so it’s different for us up here… Wouldn’t use anything else myself.

Amsoil 5W-30 synthetic diesel oil; $124/gallon.

Valvoline 5W-30 synthetic diesel oil at my local Cummins shop; $30/gallon. I can buy 4 gallons of Valvoline for the cost of one gallon of Amsoil.
