I still haven’t gotten the garden tiller out

Back in 2009 I had a 2 acre field reclaimed, so didn't think raised beds were really necessary. I've been gradually headed in that direction though. Last year I ran a couple of yards of soil/composted pig manure through my soil sterilizer and put in a 6x16 foot raised bed, and have a few smaller beds planned. Things like beans, corn, and potatoes will still go into the ground; but other things will go in the beds. When weeds get too crazy I'll take the soil out and bring it up to 180 degrees again, I'm tired of trying to keep weeds out of my carrots and onions.

Last freeze is supposed to be tonight. I'll be getting the tiller out this weekend and hopefully plant a couple hundred canna lilies and some wildflowers.
They actually schedule freezes out there, just like a baseball game? Wow, we really are behind the times! 😋

Warm Weather crops in as of last weekend here in SE Tennessee. Tomatoes, Peppers, squash, beans and basil. Took last year off so it feels good to have a working garden again this year!

We have been so wet I haven't gotten mine started yet either. Everything would be rotten by now if I had somehow managed it earlier.

I timed it right and was able to till the garden. If it was much wetter I wouldn't have done it but it was good to till. I planted the radishes, kohlrabi, lettuce, and potatoes. We are in some colder weather with rain so will have to wait to plant the warm season stuff.

I'm telling you, everything is awesome in Indiana. 🙃

No. It froze last night. It's supposed to freeze again tonight. Average/typical last freeze is April 29 according to our weather people. Forecast looks to be improving.

Of course, things can change, but it's probably going to be the last freeze of the season. Fingers crossed.

We always used Memorial weekend as a safe time to plant here, although as the springs get warmer people are planting earlier.

Any particular trick to sterilizing soil? Weeds are starting to get out of hand on mine too. Carrots especially so since they germinate so slowly.
