My opinion is that they’re pretty useless compared to a front end loader.

Here's my reasons for investigating this:

I cannot use my 60-inch mid-mount mower with a FEL attached.

A front end loader takes up a lot of space in storage.

This will apparently carry as much (or more) than a FEL

A FEL is over $6000 for my tractor. This is $1800

The front end loader is $6000 more useful that that carryall. A good wagon will carry even more than both.

Its not a PTO bucket. Its a 3PH bucket. Unless I am missing something and it connects to the PTO somehow????

But I agree.....Not nearly as handy as a FEL. Cant scoop or dump with any height.

With a front loader you can fill a dump wagon, then hitch it up and go dump it. I'd love to see someone try to fill a carry-all with their loader. LOL

I suppose it would be handy for some, but I think it would be in the way and not worth the money.

So no FEL.... So dump wagon would be more practical.... Issue still be same, you have to manually load what ever you are hauling and wagon is easier to connect/disconnect than a 3PH hitch item and there is still the length issue for storage if you leave it on...

Perhaps this will put most of us on the same page.

Probably won't need the front weights if you have the mower installed. Depends on what you intend to haul.

I stand corrected. It is not a "PTO" attachment . It is a 3-Point hitch attachment. Serves me right for copying and pasting the dealer title. I don't really need a FEL. This unit can be backed into a pile of light stuff (garden soil, mulch, compost woodchips etc) and hand-shoveled. I wanted something for carrying firewood and lighter stuff around 5 acres.

Dave. A good point that one can leave the mower installed. A FEL requires that the mower deck be removed.

Good points. A dump wagon is 1/2 the price and is more versatile.

As neat as I think a carry-all is, if you're going to be shoveling anyhow I'd personally go with a solid dump wagon. Maybe even something with a nice electric actuator, that'll allow you to dump from the seat of the machine. Of course, that's me thinking in the laziest way I can. 😂

This is by no means half the price, but if I needed a dump wagon this is what I would get.

However, I feel the Split Fire Transport Box would be more useful to the OP.

And all that backing up is really hard on a old mans arthritic body... Body does not twist around so well anymore....

I have the WR-20 60" model of the WESTENDORF and have used it on the back of a 2wd 24 hp tractor along with my TC33D 4wd. Mine is the highlift model with a Hydraulic cylinder for the dump action. The basic model's dump action is accomplished via a chain attached to the tractor's drawbar and as the 3pt reaches its highest point, the chain through a linkage, dumps the bucket. Hence, the lower dump height on the basic models. The high lift models will easily dump into a trailer or pickup box. I do not have a fel for my present tractor and have used the "auto-dump" to move gravel, sand and limestone without issues. It is sturdy enough to back into gravel and leave with a full bucket.
