What do you guys use to kill weeds with? I have a back pack sprayer but just doing my drive way i have to fill it up multiple times. I have weeds and grass that grows in the middle of my gravel driveway which is 1,300 feet long and that is not even counting the fence line.

I have a Kubota b tractor but i have been toying with the idea of buying a ATV and putting a tank on the back of the racks. Seems like the most maneuverable way?
A 55 gal drum laying on its side on a homemade trailer using some old motorcycle tires and a 12v RV pump. You could make a sprayer bar off the back and just motor along slowly and if you put a valve in you could have a hand held sprayer also.. Easy to build project

I just figured up the cost to fill a 25 gal tank with weed killer! I use round up Concentrate Plus and it says to use 6 oz. per gallon of water on hard to kill weeds so 6x25 is 150 oz.

64 oz cost me $37.

I'm gonna have to go to the local farm store and find something cheaper. I'm not pay over $100 just to kill weeds!
It's not cheap. I use the generic 41% glyphosate from TSC, 2 1/2 gallons is $135. I mix 1 11/2 gallons to a 25 gallon tank for a 6% mix. For the arena and driveway I mix in Mojave 70 soil sterilizer, kills everything for 1 year. I am able to get the Mojave at my local farm supply for $70. The glyphosate gives me a quick kill and the Mojave keeps it from coming back, that way I only spray once a year.

I have all the different types of sprayer setups in this post that I use on the farm. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. One thing I would like to add is about sprayer maintenance. After each use I always rinse with water and run the water through the pump and nozzles. For outside storage and before the first winter freeze I pump 50/50 antifreeze through the pump, wand and nozzles. If I forget to do the antifreeze I always have problems in the spring with the roller pump.

For driveways I use 2 oz/gal glyphosate plus 1 oz/gal 2,4-D. I buy the 2.5 gal jugs at TSC. In Summertime have to spray the driveways every month or so depending on the weather.
For fencerows I use 2 oz/gal Crossbow.
For pasture I use 2 oz/gal 2,4-D.

So i went to TSC and they had

Amine 400 2,4 D weed killer one gal dont get price
farmworks 41% glyphosate for $124 2.5 gal
compare N Save 41% glyphosate 1gal for $49.99

All i really need to kill weeds is glyphosate rite? From what i have read using only glyphosate takes longer for the weeds to die.

local farm store was closed

I add a surfactant to glyphosate.

I think Roundup already has it in the formula.

I don’t know if it helps or not but it kills most weeds fast.

Roundup does have the surfactant. You can buy it like this or some people use dishwashing liguid. That tends to cause foam.

I have found that adding 2-4d to the gly will give a better and longer lasting kill.

I want it to last all summer!

For a quick kill on most weeds (not crab grass) I use Amine from TSC. For fence row, road edges, etc I use Gly 41%, and for my lawn I use a PRE-emergent that prevents almost all of them from coming up at all.

If you have a bumper crop of crab grass, you should try MSMA+. (esp if in your lawn) It's the one thing that I found that will actually kill it. It's not readily available in all states, and won't be available from TSC. I get mine on line.

What do you use to stop leaks on tank sprayers'? My tank sprayer hand wand leaks it has a hose clamp around it it's tight but still leaks.
