1953 Ford Jubilee
The 3 point hitch on my Ford Jubilee is slow to raise. After I start the tractor, I raise the quadrant lever and sometimes it takes a while for the 3 point hitch to raise; sometimes I have to lower and raise the lever 3-4 times before it will begin to raise at which time it raises slow. When I pull the the throttle back, it will sometimes raise a bit faster. When I shut the tractor off, the hitch lowers itself to the ground. It has done this since 1995 when I purchased it. What should I look for, any ideas on how I can make it work faster? Thanks.

Have you checked and or replaced the hydraulic fluid?

There should be a draft/possition controll lever under the seat. Move that lever and see if things change.

How about the filters or strainer? Did you replace or clean them? Tractor is an antique, the filters / strainers are most likely clogged.

Where are the filters and strainers for the hydraulic system located?

I don't have a clue. They will be there. You need an owners manual or some documentation as to where they are located.

Maybe someone will come along that knows. I don't do old tractors but I do know that every tractor ever made will have them.

Have a look at this. There are three separate systems it seems.

Beyond my previous post you may have to check the hydraulic pump and or remove the rock shaft case to try and further diagnose. Unfortunately it's been a very long time since I have had one of these tractors in my life. I was fairly young and it was my father's. So I don't remember a lot of details about it.
