Roy mentioned concerns over mowing on steep slopes
just watch this and for sure don't do this at home....
Considering he shifted his weight the wrong direction..... I was surprised that he made it as far as he did.

I mow one area the length of our front yard (couple, three hundred feet) that's steep (25-30 degrees). It's only about 3-4 feet wide (bottom of an embankment) and a very slow mow.
That guy was mowing way too fast...running slower may have worked. Also, ROPS down...he's lucky he (apparently) wasn't hurt

Second raised planter is planted and done. Wifey had me refill 4 planters with amended and she planted a bunch of flowers that have been growing in the greenhouse.

Now, I just need to run the remainder of the drip system in the bigger planters. Still have to get some elbows before doing the rest.

Making breakfast burritos for dinner..... always good for a change...

High temp so far --- 88°F. Some clouds / storms on the horizon again.... not sure if any will make it here. Fingers crossed, toes crossed, ears folded back, rain dance completed....

expected but still unpleasant prebuy contract from fuel oil company just arrived.
2 dollars more per gallon than last year, now 4.67 gallon. Yikes. I use about 300 gallons in this little house but
still a huge increase. Am going to buy another oil filled radiator style electric heater and use that in house, to add to my other
electric heaters. Electric is going to be cheaper this winter than oil.

I predict a sad large increase in home fires due to this, space heaters add risk for sure if not very carefully managed.
I never leave the house with one on. Kids and pets with electric heaters are bad news. Talk about use with adult supervision...
sure wish I had a wood stove.
Here is a link to a great fuel cost calculator;
Fuel Comparison Calculator for Home Heating | Coalpail.com

I know that my last electric bill was almost $0.19 per KWH.
Your fuel oil at $4.67 is still about a $1000 less then the cost of electric for the same BTU's and that is rating the oil burner at only 75% efficiency.
The only accurate values are my prices for coal and electricity and your oil prices on this screen print.

what is listed as geothermal electric is my mini-splits at 30F.

Thanks Lou, good info. Since I have only one zone heating, I can save by keeping whole house temp down and just heating the room I'm in, which is typically my office or bedroom.
