Pump house, or a building that runs the/ winches that
raise and lower the cables for the ore skips and man baskets/ elevators?? I believe they used to call them engine houses? Maybe a poiler used to run ventilation fans? Many Interesting things on a site like that.

This is the engine or hoist building. Its the largest steam powered hoist in the world.

No. 2 Quincy Shaft-Rockhouse was built for Quincy's deepest mine. It extended over 9,000 feet at an angle and reached a total depth of 6,225 feet below the Earth's surface. It was built in 1908 during some of Quincy's most productive years. Production stopped at this Shaft-Rockhouse in 1945.

Correct, it was the boiler for the steam hoist. The trussle wood is gone but the cars are to dump coal into the bunkers.

I don't believe this is a mucking bucket. This bucket was towed by a winch back and forth and pulled materials to a hole in the mine floor that would empty into the car located below.
