I want to echo two_bit_score, Nice truck and project Hay Dude!!
Good for you @Hay Dude! Congratulations - nice truck!

Luckily I have time as the project I bought it for has been shelved until ’23.
Having a tough time finding a used 12’ box so far.

Can you believe if you buy a NEW 12’ box, you have to pay not only 6% sales tax, but also have to pay 12% FET tax?
That’s 18% tax!

It’s going to have to be a used bed.

Wow! And I thought it was bad enough here in soviet canukistan.

Our tax is 15% which you'd end up paying if you bought used thru a dealer or an auction site. Legally you're even supposed to pay it on a private sale...as if that's going to happen, least ways not in my world :).
Used cars are taxed at 15% also, on the book price unless you paid more and then it's on the price you paid......bend over :)

Why is there an ? (FET) tax on top of sales tax??!! What is an FET tax? You're completely right, that's painfully excessive taxation! I "assume" that means Federal Excise Tax?? Wonder why that is in place on a 'large' piece of steel? Other than to balance the cost of shipping from China - which is caused by our USA policies in the first place. I just don't get it. Hay Dude I feel your pain at being charged "excessively" for a wanted/desired item! Keep searching, it sounds as if you've several good leads thus far.

My nearest town has implemented a bump in their sales tax, it’s an additional 1.75%. When I bought my JD I often wondered if I could have bought it from the same dealership in another town and saved myself $350.

I can’t believe all these new taxes.

Taxes have a funny way of sneaking into your life. I don’t know the exact amounts, I’m going by memory, but to license a trailer in Illinois used to be something like $25, now it’s something like $115. I’m talking car haulers, single axle etc. I think they finally caught enough grief they have lowered them though.

For some reason the trailer park brake valve was there, but it’s gone now. No glad hands, either.

Below the regular parking brake valve? Based on the shape of the hole I could bet it was never there and they had another switch there.
Compare the ragged hole there to the smooth recess molded in for the parking brake valve.

Found a more suitable body today.
Air Flo 12’ AR450 steel. New old stock. Never mounted. Has the high side walls I want, too.
It has a conveyor down the middle, but I don’t have to use it and theres a steel cover I can weld on it.
Great price

I know it has rust haze, but I am painting it anyways, so I’m not concerned.

I may keep looking. Really want high wall sides (don’t like the added wood plank sides). Would also like thick floor.
With 41,800 GVWR, it’ll carry a lot.

In no hurry. Probably going to take 6 months until it’s all done.
Neat project. I noticed your comment about the 41,800 GVWR. I am not up on PA's axle weight limits these days but that sounds excessive?
