Since you put up the photo, I've had a feeling that leaf was immature and had some growing to do before reaching it's final shape. If the leaves on the tree still look like that one I'm probably wrong. If they've grown or changed shape you might want to publish photos of a couple of them.

The leaf is young. I took it off of the tree on Saturday.

This one is a clump. Each trunk is probably 6-8". Probably 20-30' high. (Maybe more)

I thought red oaks had pointy leaves and white oaks had rounded ones?

We have an oak near one of our buildings. About 17 years ago I was clearing trees in the fall and that oak was a beautiful red, so I saved it. To this day that oak has never turned red again. Ours could be a pin oak or a red oak, I'm just not sure why it only turned red that one year, maybe it was trying to save itself from the saw.

Fairly sure it's Southern Red Oak, which has the U-shape or bell shape where the leaf meets the stem at the bottom.
He said the leaf was young so it's not fully mature yet. Note the pics I posted above of it
