Have you noticed that Amazon is no longer always the best price. In fact, the things I have bought in the past several weeks have not been the lowest at all.

They are convenient for sure, but sometimes at a real cost. Check out the prices on Walmart, Kroger, etc. before blindly buying from Amazon.

I've noticed this for over a year. They build up their client base with Prime, lower prices etc. Now that they have a strong foothold, they are raising prices. Buyer beware...

You're definitely correct, I've noticed that a lot lately. Only problem is a lot of times what I'm after is not available locally.

And….always check more than just their first listings shown; those seem to generally be higher priced. If you scroll down, sometimes you’ll find the exact same item cheaper.

It pays to shop around so I'm not renewing my prime this year.

Yup, I always sort the listings by " lowest price, including shipping. "

Amazon is where I start my search. Once I figure out what I want, then I'll do a search to see if somebody else has it cheaper. Funny, but Home Depot has had better prices on tractor and my Kawasaki Mule then Amazon.

When I went to order mower blades, the company that I've been buying them from had raised their price from what I paid last year. I looked on Amazon and they had the blades for less money then I paid last year, so I bought from Amazon instead.

The best part of Amazon is being able to find things with significant positive reviews. We wanted some new TV trays. All my life I've only known of the ones with the folding legs until I looked on Amazon and discovered TV trays that slide under the sofa so the tray is real close to you while sitting back comfortably. It's one of those things I never thought about before, but now that I have that style of TV tray, my life is just a little bit better!!!!

been noticing that walmart beats amazon sometimes when you figure in shipping (running to the local walmart is better for me than waiting on a large package and fighting off the porch pirates), Ebay beats amazon consistently now.

Walmart is waking up late to the fact that Amazon had a good business model. I noticed a few Walmart+ trucks delivering things the last few days. We use Amazon to search and will go directly to the merchant when practical.

The higher prices I have noticed are those things that don't ship well. In modern times the 'we got you, now we can raise prices' is a joke. Information is too available. Look at how quickly the market pivoted on AB.

just because the tactic will not work long term does not mean Amazon is not doing it.

I live in a rural area and sometimes items are not available locally. I check local first, then Amazon, then check as many other sources as possible before ordering. About half the time Amazon is cheaper - and almost always faster. Speed is an issue on equipment related things because I want to get back to work. The other half the time I go to Ebay or to manufacturers or other established dealers. I'm pretty confident I get the best deal. Amazon is expensive on some things, but they are reliable and quick. You do have to scour the listings carefully sometimes because what they have may not be exactly what you want. I have that issue sometimes ordering parts and get the wrong part because I didn't read the entire listing.

P/E = Price/Earnings
P/S = Price/Sales

My broker is now shorting Amazon. It's way overvalued. Sales are collapsing for Amazon.

Apple and Microsoft are cheap.

Amazon remains about the easiest place to order from, even if they may not be the absolute cheapest. It’s a one or two click task vs having to set up an account, password, credit card info, etc.

The main exception in my world is Auto parts. Can’t beat Rock’s catalog, and their delivery time and cost is competitive, all in. Amazon’s auto parts lookup just plain sucks, by comparison.

Amazon also sucks for Milwaukee power tools.

Buying locally is a poor optio by comparison, consider the poor stocking level and high prices.

I usually shop between ebay and amazon mostly. Often the same sellers on both.
I like ebay because you're not buying from ebay. Your buying direct from the seller, always. I get a lot from complete tractor, cross creek, and steiner tractor.
When it comes to stuff like headlights and gauges, I usually get them on ebay from pakistan. I miss the china junk. It was so much better then the pakistan junk.
The pakistan stuff is junk but its cheap and for stuff like lights and gauges they work well enough.

That is the key point. I always check local stores. If they don’t have what I want, it’s straight to Amazon.

I used to go to Amazon for most of my on-line ordering. But the last time I bought something from them, it was not delivered and so I canceled the order.

After reporting the the product was not delivered, and that I cancelled the order, Amazon would not give me my money back. They wanted to keep it and said that I could use it on my next order. But wait ! What if I don't have another order !

I insisted that they credit my bank account with the total amount. This went on for several weeks, and they finally did credit my account.

It will be a cold day in hell before I order from Amazon again.

There are two types of sales on Amazon: direct from Amazon and independent third party sellers. The direct from Amazon orders are always immediately refunded no questions asked. The independent sellers are a different story.

I did away with my Prime membership a few years ago. Just wasn't worth it. Got my packages in about the same time regardless.
