And letting someone merge is apparently an insult to your ancestors
I will sometimes change to the outside lane even if there's no way the car on the onramp going to get there before me. It may give the people behind me the same idea.
I'll also see idiots daily with their head so far up their butt in the slow lane not allowing people to merge onto the interstate. Is it really that difficult to change your speed up or down a little to give someone some room to merge safetly?????
The person merging is supposed to match the speed of the traffic. I tend to leave a wide gap in front of me to allow people to get in. So why is it so difficult to accelerate and match the speed of traffic once you are in my lane?

I was "That guy in the left lane" the last time that I came home from my mother's house. I was doing about 9 over the limit and had just passed a car when somebody came up behind me going even faster. A truck was pulled over into the breakdown lane up ahead so I stayed in the outside lane until I got by. The driver behind me was NOT happy... riding my bumper and flashing his lights at me. Yet when you are traveling at 15-20 over the limit, you have to expect to slow occasionally.

Same 'round here, if I can I'll always move over
I went to merge onto the highway just yesterday, one solitary car coming up on the main drag, I could see for more than a kilometer behind this oblivious woman. You think she'd move over so I wouldn't have to either slow down or nail it to get in front...nope. "I've got the right of way and I'm using it" Common courtesy isn't common.
Yet every time I come out the same ramp, if there's a semi coming up, he will move over to let me out. Difference between professionals or not I guess.

My BiL did that once. I was driving when I saw him coming the other way in a Ford Escort Hatchback @60mph with a new bought tree hanging out the back about 7' flailing around like a Inflatable Wacky Waving Tube Man :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
I was just moving it a 1/4 mile on my land to the burn pile.
The pictures don't really show how comical it looks in person.

California freeways have all the same sorts of foolishness described in this thread. With more than half the population born elsewhere, this isn't surprising.

But one pattern I haven't seen mentioned: On I-80 20 miles East and West of Travis AFB, (50 miles east of San Francisco) there are always young loons playing First Gun, darting through 75 mph traffic like aerial combat. Sometimes alone, often a few competing like the Cannonball Run. Far faster than the traffic they zig-zag among. All new cars so I assume the product of AF re-enlistment bonuses. I wonder how many are first time drivers.

If someone does politely make a gap at an onramp, for a visible car to merge, invariably one or more of these fools will use that gap to pass on the right forcing the merging car to abandon their arrival.

It's common to have cars pass simultaneously on my left and right at high speed then nearly crash into each other as they compete for the moderate gap in front of me. I saw this a couple of times last week. Plus one instance where I was overtaking a car that was in the slow lane, and a fool in a new small BMW nearly crashed the slow-lane car as he cut in front of me at high speed just as I arrived to go by the slow car. It looked like 5 ft from that car and less than a carlength from me. I looked in the mirror and verified what I had expected when I had noticed him approaching, at the moment there was no one in the fast lane to my left, the fool could have passed me using the fast people's lane and that drama would been unnecessary.

That stretch of freeway has additional CHP presence, we always see someone pulled over, but that doesn't seem to help.

My wife will no longer drive our customary 100 mile trip home to ranch, says its too scary. I'm used to it but it's a nuisance.

Where I live it's all two-lane roads with the occasional third passing lane for uphill traffic. Follow a vehicle on the flats that's doing 55-58 mph, until they get to the 3rd lane, then they accelerate to 65. Since I am pulling a trailer, I can't accelerate fast enough to pass them. But when the 3rd lane ends, it's back to 55 again.
That is another really odd quirk of a LOT of drivers. Again, it just doesn't make any sense to me. I don't think they do it because they're thinking "I don't want anyone to pass me". I think they just subconsciously must see the multi-lane road and feel more comfortable going faster. But it happens ALL the time around here (MN).

Not seeing the issue here. Large sraps. Straps wrapped around to cinch it and keep it from sliding. Strapped right where it is supported underneath. Tailgate or whatever is under the pipe is also strapped down. Looks A1 to me.

Sometimes that's the case. Other times it's because somebody feels like being a d-
Well, anyways. I was on my way home one Friday years ago after being gone all week. I got behind a line of cars doing 10 under the 55mph speed limit. When we came to one of the few truck lanes on that 60 mile stretch of road they all pulled into the passing lane and proceeded up the hill... still doing 45. So I pulled into the driving lane and proceeded by them until I got to the lead car- which promptly pulled over, straddling the lanes. He was doing 10 under while I was doing 10 over, so life got interesting for a few moments. I saw that there was no oncoming traffic so I said * it... downshifted, crossed over the double lines, blew by him and proceeded on my way.

I was wondering if someone was gonna call me out on that fact Just trying to keep folks on their toes.

That was actually my trailer yesterday picking up the culvert for my property

Even snagged a red flag form work to hang off from it, even though it was only hanging 2' off that back.

Only thing wrong with the load, was no tag on the trailer Tags bolted to the tailgate. And I had to remove the tailgate in order to haul the culvert.

Even had working lights and brakes

Oh, for sure there are jackwads out there that want to 'police' others. 100% seen a bunch of them over the decades. But more often than not the folks I encounter acting like this are just oblivious yahoos.

And your solution in that case was spot on. People like that should have their license revoked.
