When I looked at the 2nd generation Tundra I found that unless it had power seats I couldn't drive it. If I could not lower the seats all the way, my view was blocked out by the windshield giving way to the roof.
See? Being a little runt has its advantages. 😎

Damn Sam! how tall are you that your hitting your head on a ceiling fan? I'm only 6'4"

6'5"

I hit my first one some time in high school; now it's an almost daily event.

Now, I was 6'6", but that's a different story...

Getting back to the OPs question, I really loved my Colorado but the fiascos I am going through with the transmission have convinced me to never buy another GM product. About 6 months ago I had to have the fluid changed because they installed the wrong type at the factory. It got so that it would vibrate going down the road. Rather then saying “we messed up, we will fix it” they sent out a TSB and I had to pay for the repair. Now I am having more problems, this time with the wiring harness. I have been quoted $1000 to fix that… which includes replacing the fluid which I just paid to have put in. Again, this is a known problem… they will pay to fix the diesel Denali but won’t come good on the exact same problem in their other 8 speed transmissions. I had hoped to get another 15 years out of this truck… now I am having second thoughts. If they won’t stand behind their product I will send my money elsewhere.

I'd get a 1/2 ton truck. You can tow more, do more, carry more. There really isn't much gas mileage difference. I remember two people went to see their mother, five hours away. One was in a rice burner truck, one was in a 1/2 ton supercab. Both got 22 mpg, but who had less truck?

What was the full sized truck which got 22 mph? Was it 4wd? We’ve run GMs for years but have been switching over to Tundras. 18 mpg is all that I have ever gotten, and that was rare. The Tundras are worse.
I can get 23 easily with my Colorado, and that’s with 10 ply tires.

I've got a half ton Silverado with the 5.3 V8, 4WD, and on a trip I can get 22 or slightly over, 21 is pretty easy to get just driving around, but I'm an easy driver too.

Before I bought this pu, I would have never believed that a full size pu with a decent powered V8 would get over 20 mpg.

Yeah but if a Colorado may have tranny problems, I'd stay clear. I like the Colorado just because it's bigger. My 75 year old dad always drilled I our heads, little trucks are useless. Just get a half ton, any flavor you like. I just had a 1 ton flatbed, I drove easy, trying to break the 6 mpg ceiling on the gas consumption. Bare truck with a flatbed, 36 k miles. Ran great. 5.7 is the best I got.
