Finally got them correct. You could get the entire thing made without the bsp pipe threads also if the shop had the right compression fittings.

Parts:

31" hose 3/8"
3/8 JIC to BSP banjo
3/8 BSP banjo bolt
Copper washers for banjo
90' bsp to qpp
Male 3/8" NPT (m and f part number below.

Thanks for sharing the formula, now let us know how it works for ya!

I used mine quite a bit a few weeks back to finish up my son's yard. I put the longer top link on and it worked perfectly. I cannot imagine doing a lot of land leveling without a hydraulic top link. May not need one as bad if the land is relatively smoot to begin with but son's yard was a hot mess of holes, dips and ruts.

Not sure but I think the military must have used his yard for a ballistic missile test ground : )

My box blade is 5' and the 425 handled it with no issues. I did put some rocks in the bucket to help weight the front tires down a little and it helped.

It is smooth now. I bought a land plane and tried using it on the yard also but found that since there was still a fair amount of sod in the dirt, the land plane kept getting sod built up on the cutting edges and didn't give a smooth surface.

The box blade, tilted all the way back, did a better job of getting it smooth. I think the land plane would work better on gravel and probably dirt that doesn't have sod in it.

I tried the land plane on my MILs drive and it did a nice job. Still need to finish that up.

Find the largest hydraulic hose maker in your area...take in your link and remove one of the quick attaches. That's 100% the way to get it right the first time. I did that, but went to a small "farm" hose maker and they didn't have the smaller 3/8" JIC or banjos. #lessonlearned

So far so good...about 20 hours and I did 5 truck loads of dirt for 15 years of deferred lawn maintenance. Filling in rings around trees from the mower, wash out/erosion issues, covering up rocks, you name it. Used the loader and back dragged most of it. Float mode with the box blade (it would be nice to have wheel attachments to keep it level but I don't have that type) when the "humps" can't be easily cut with he bucket/back dragging. Used my mower and the de-thatching rake and ran in circles to smooth it out and break up clods, etc...finished out before see pretty well. Saw that trick on a YouTubers channel. Then used a star/slit style drop spreader for seeding. Went well. Being able to get the angle on the box blade perfect is a lot easier with that lever. NOTE: That lever on my 425 is right at my elbow and I've banged it several times....design flaw I guess.

Brush Hogging would be about impossible to do well without the top link adjustment too.

Looks neat !

For winter services my 424 already have both outlets of remotes busy.
One goes on FEL, for "third function", to tilt snow blade.
Other is for tilting of broom
But it would be great to incline that broom either

Do you have any ideas, how to extend remotes ?

I don't...but a good "hose shop" should be able to make something work for you.

Thanks to all for the info on this. I found that (perhaps since this thread started) Summit Hydraulics has a top-link kit that works pretty well. Much of what is outlined here is included in the kit. I put together a video of my install if you are interested. Some of this information may help others.

Two follow up things from this video.

1. The lower arms on Yanmars are long. As others have suggested, it is a good idea to get a slightly longer top-link.

2. I ended up with a small hydraulic leak as the body of the hydro unit is bigger than the standard link and it interfered with the power-and-beyond loop for my backhoe. Not an issue if you don't have a backhoe but something to navigate if you do. It walked loose the power-and-beyond fitting at the 90 which was easy to tighten back up.

I ordered mine from Amazon...search here for the ones shown here. There are others also. These hose lengths are right for your 425 if you add a 90 degree elbow on the end that goes to the rear remotes.View attachment 785090 These come from the Netherlands and it only takes about 3 days for delivery. One thing to know...the fittings are the wrong size for the 425. I had to go to a local hydraulics business to get the correct ones. JUst take one from the rear remote box and a hose with you and get 2 males that fit the new hoses. Its cheaper than changing the females on the rear remotes. You'll have to get a thread adapter to go from a brittish to us thread (the large hex piece below the elbow) and an elbow. Once that's done it works perfectly. Tighten fittings very tight. Good luck

Hey I know it’s been a while since you installed this but just wanna know if everything is still working well?

If you are going to have hoses made up just shut the tractor off and run the loader valve to get the hydraulic pressure out of the system. Unscrew one of the rear remote female fittings and take it to the hydraulic shop with you. That's what I did to make sure they had the right fitting.

I made mine 10" longer than the ones that came with the hydraulic top link. They are nice and long but not so much that they are in the way.
I know this is not a recent post but I just received my SA425. I plan to get a hydraulic top link. Would you please clarify two points. I have never dealt with hydraulic fittings.

1) run the loader valve - just raise and lower the FEL with the engine off? Or the 3-point?

2) Unscrew one of the rear remote female fittings - this makes me nervous. Just use a crescent wrench?

Thank you

Either loader or 3pt. should take the pressure off of the system. Unscrew it with a crescent or box end or pipe wrench; nothing to hurt here. Just be sure not to allow any dirt to get in. Use a clean rag over it to keep bugs or dirt from getting in it.

AD
Just reviewing this post and looking for clarification on what I need for a successful top link.
I know I'm looking for a 21 - 32" cylinder and I wonder if it would be simpler to just get a cylinder alone and then have a local shop make the correct length hoses and install the right quick connects.
Kind of surprises me that there isn't just a simple plug and play kit. I was quoted $700 to have a top link installed by the dealer, but that seems pretty steep.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you sure that is the working length that would be best for you?
Look at the following link, get the asked for dimension, then find a unit that provides roughly an equal amount of adjustment based on that asked for dimension.

Good luck.

I was just going by what several other people with the same tractor I have found to work for them.

What works and what is ideal can very often be very very different.
Even the OEM tractor manufacturers do the same thing, provide links that (work) on several different models, but are far from being what should actually be there, ALL of them do it.

It takes less than 10 minutes to know for sure. ;)
