That piece looks like a plum bob, Paul, but that turbine looking piece in the background makes me think its maybe some kind of device for smoothing air flow in a duct. Part of a vacuum cleaner?

I’m impressed that you noticed the turbine wheel in the background. I didn’t realize it was in the picture until you pointed it out. That is a first stage centrifugal compressor wheel from a Honeywell TPE331 turbine engine. It’s a solid piece of titanium, and a work of art. It failed inspection in the process of being repaired after ingesting a bird.
They gave it to me as a souvenir as I was flying it when it swallowed the bird. It’s a really cool $80,000 ornament now. A real conversation starter…..

$80000 bird strike. That's some expensive duck gumbo.

You should see the tools and code to make something like that. Mastercam sells a special option for turbine blades. It costs more than the basic software.

I forgot to mention that it rotates at 43,000 rpm, I’m amazed that they don’t just fly apart.

Picked up an expedite load once from a machine shop in Erlanger, KY destined for Pratt & Whitney in Montreal.

Bunch of small, lightweight boxes less than 18” tall covering about 65% of the floor in the cargo area of my Sprinter (50” x 108”)

Nothing double stacked.

The declared value for Customs was close to $300K.

actually a wonderful story of the bad guys taking over a tanker they thought was attached to Israel, our fleet hears about it, bears down
on those fools in that Arleigh Burke at 30 knots, bad guys all try to escape or give up.
It must be an amazing sight to see a modern destroyer aimed right at you...

Morning all, 36 going up to 50 and might be some sun.
Got the Daytona 3 ton floor jack and it came with free 3 ton jack stands. New pipe wrench and some other stuff at HF.

slept late, tried to catch up on sleep, unsuccessfully.

Son went on 2nd date, seems to have gone well.

Those are Christmas lights that I like. Simple, probably easy to put up and take down but plenty colorful!

Mostly, glad it went well.

A dear friend lost his 54 yo wife this past week. Unexpected. She was a super kind and gracious person. We all miss her. She volunteered for the pet adoption centers in the area, and had a full time job. My friend is a mess. They have a 21 yo son, who's a junior in college, supposed to be taking exams right now. Sad all around.

Sorry to hear of this family's loss. Our prayers for them and their friends.
