both have the same inherent problem.

The CP4 will eat itself with NO water present. The first thing Ford does on a warranty claim is test the fuel and pull the filters for inspection. Remember, they are looking for ANY reason to deny the warranty. Lots have been replaced under warranty with no contamination found.

I wonder if the cancellation of the 3.0 ecodiesel was to free up some manufacturing for warranty pumps? People want to point fingers at the car makers but what about Bosch? I assume they had a hand in the design of the fuel systems put out by the car makers. Are they the ones dragging their feet on the supply of replacement parts? Were they the ones involved in the VW dieselgate?

And my point is the CP3 is a Superior design in every way as far as overall LONG TERM reliability is concerned.

Maybe watch that video I posted and consider the design differences.

Again How many 2001 Duramaxes or 2003 + RAMs running CP 3's are dying due to exploded Injection pumps that destroy everything in the injection chain

My understanding is their have been several Revisions introduced to the CP 4 pumps in recent years.
I hope it is Enough.
I think we will keep our 2003 and 2004 CP 3 equipped Cummins powered Dodge trucks because they just seem to keep running with just basic maintenance.

I would Not purchase any new CP4 equipped diesel no matter who built it, that did not have extended coverage on that CP4 Especially a used one with some miles on it

When this type of failure happens to an owner with CP 4 it is a huge Financial burden if there is no warranty.

A superior design in every way but flowing the fuel required to meet rated HP and torque numbers.

The switch to the CP3 also came with a software update to detune the truck.

There are endless stories of people with Rams waiting and waiting for back ordered parts and trying to get on mystery waiting lists. Then their nice truck decides to puke it's pump at the worst time possible. Just like this owner...... Ram is no different than the other's.

If you don’t understand the difference between getting a pump fixed before it fails versus sitting in the middle of the road then being towed to a dealer (if there’s one nearby) getting a hotel room, delaying your trip, the dealer probably wont have a pump so you have to rent a car to drive or fly home, then you don’t understand basic common sense.

Ford just waits for the pump to take a dump and leaves their customer stranded. Sounds like they didn’t chase away enough 6L & 6.4L owners

Which is EXACTLY what happened to that Ram owner. She tried to get it repaired BEFORE the big trip and the dealer made promises that didn't happen. Then, on the big trip, her RAM puked it's CP4 pump. I thought you said they were all fixed? She knew it was common sense to get it fixed BEFORE the trip. She knows not to trust Ram now I guess.
