Getting an annual physical at the doctors

And just how would getting a "physical" lengthened his enjoyable life?

The purpose of routine exams is so that they catch it before getting to stage 4. A lot of people have gotten treated successfully and gone on to live long, carefree years.

I do agree with you though that if all you have to look forward to is endless treatments, I hope I will opt to enjoy whatever time I have left.

if you had cancer and you got the shot, stage four happens in months. if you wait all year to get examined, you might not be alive

My brother just finished chemo last week. A colonoscopy last fall found he had cancer. Radiation last winter, surgery in summer, chemo this fall... he lost some time but now seems to be cancer free because they caught it early. He was laid up at times, yet 2 weeks ago was running the tractor while we cleaned up storm damage.
He has kept all of his shots up to date.

Friends mother buried near Florence Oregon… no one lives in Oregon anymore.

Friends father a retired CPA moved to Nevada to die as Nevada tax law minimize estate taxes.

When the father passed, he was creamated in Nevada and the plan was to inter with wife in Florence Oregon.

My friend made the trip and the cemetery said there were fees and paperwork to be filed and if I remember it was not insignificant.

Friends wife said what are you going to do?

Friend on the way back to the hotel stopped at a garden center and bought the most beautiful Azalea and wife asked why… friend’s mom always loved azaleas and I’m going to plant it at the cemetery…

Next day they return and cemetery says it has the paperwork ready and friend says not sure if we are going that route but as long as we are here I’m planting an Azalea and asks to borrow a garden trowel and plants it.

You guessed it… after he dug the hole he poured the bag with dads ashes into it first and then set the plant…

That was me for a long time... mostly because they wouldn't allow me to leave on my own, the nearest hospital is an hour away and I had nobody to drive me.
Yet at the same time my brother was being treated a neighbor went through the same thing who hadn't been tested... and his ordeal has been much worse.

Cancer sucks.

Come on by... we average 50 a week.

The prep is hard for some... just saying.

My father served in the Pacific during WWII on the light destroyer Joseph P Kennedy by the way. He was cremated and his remains were placed in the Pacific ocean off of California by the Navy. That was 1992 and I was not a part of the process so I am not sure if that option is still available for Navy veterans.

Not having t a responsible adult to accompany you home trips up a lot of people...

And it makes it really difficult if you have no one available.

Of course there are folks that game the system and get away with it but their gaming reduces provider liability.

Some will arrange for say an Uber to pick them up saying Uber is a cousin or neighbor... or taxi is a brother.

Most procedures will be cancelled if no responsible adult is identified at check in.

Your physician may be able to override hospital policy in writing giving you clearance or may even have one of his office staff take you home.

It's ok for you and your adult to travel by cab or rideshare... it's the part of having someone with you.

For those with truly no one there are medical service companies for a fee that can be arranged... $400-600 is what I hear.

The prep is hard for some... just saying.

My wife devised a good trick for the prep. Contrary to the instructions, why of course.

The instructions said to mix the nasty Fleet formula in a huge amount of water-- like 1 to 2 gallons. Then drink the entire contents of the putrid nasty water, with each sip nearly provoking a barf. No way.

She said "screw that." Put the entire nasty formula in a glass, since it is only a small amount. Add only a small amount of water, and chug it rapidly like a big shooter. Once it is down, the trouble part is done. Then simply drink the remaining water, over time, which is easy since it is untainted and normal tasting.

I did that when it was my time ... I highly recommend it.

I guess my wife has well developed "chugging" skills ... oh wait!
