Did install new headlight bulb in the Subaru. I go thru a lot so I keep them in stock. I drive with headlights on all the time.
Still cold out, looks are deceiving. 34°
Starting to cloud up, might not see the sun for another week.

8 outside this AM. Heading to mid-40's. I think our cold spell is over for a little while.

Got the plumber coming today for a Milk House hookup. Maybe a hot water heater and two sinks. Not sure about the bathroom as no floor or wall work has been undertaken since the last time they were here. Cannot come to an agreement on the tile work. One guy says walls need to come out down to studs, another says furring, I say slap mud on them and get at it. The walls are a concrete mix over mesh. Not giving up any more space for framing and durarock, IMHO, which is why I say slap the mud on them and get the tile up.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe, stay warm.

Mike, agree. As long as you get good adhesion to the paint go for it. Maybe a special primer? The existing concrete wall should be better than the durock to my thinking.

Thanks for the input.

The tile guy won't budge. He is a good guy, high quality work.

Tonight I start pounding the concrete walls out in the shower. Not happy about it, but I do not want to revisit tile in my future.

Plus, the concrete was painted by me with only the lord knows what. When I turned the equipment part of the "bathroom" into a tool shed. LOL.

At this point, I am not up for arguing details on what a professional recommends. But dang it, you know, it's 100 year old concrete!!!

Ordered a replacement board for my energy logger that monitors my geothermal system. He offers half price replacement. It stopped working over a year ago, right before I retired. Called the guy who makes them, and he confirmed that was my best option. I have one of the earliest models, long since upgraded to better stuff. A few years ago it lost its flash and I stopped by the guys house in western MD and he reflash it (2012)
It also monitors the thermostats to determine run time, etc. and monitors loop temperatures.

Yes it would, but it would be adding another cheap Chinese conversion to his signal chain, defeating his mission of trying to go upscale with the CD player in the first place.
In reality, it would work just fine.
I agree, trying for pure signal path
so I have a choice of coax digital out or RCA.
I went with RCA, upped my game by a factor of 10, one dollar cable to ten!
so apparently there are three options, coax digital, toslink digital and plain old RCA

If your amplifier has analog RCA inputs, you will actually save a conversion by staying analog after the initial conversion in the CD player, through the preamp and amp and to the speakers. Add a turntable, and you’ve kicked digital to the curb…..

Good Evening Don and TBS,
I pulled the new anode out of the tube box they sent me. Looks like it will clear with a few inches to spare. I think it is something like 42" long. So it should not be a problem to install other than removing the old rod.

As mostly suggested, I am not going to attempt this job until later this year ! The water heater is a Rheem, they were very friendly on the phone and they did send me a new anode for free, so no complaints in that department !

Drew, glad to hear that your finally getting your sound system straightened out !

Hope all have a good night !

Good Afternoon TBS,
Well I went on YouTube and the videos that I looked at highly recommended using an impact gun. So before I attempt this job I will take a trip down to Harbor Freight Tools and pick up an inexpensive electric impact gun ! And yes, I will let you know how it works out !

I do know from the video, that you have to remove a plastic cover and cut a section of the foam insulation away to even get at the anode rod. After completing the job, just reinstall the foam plug and cap. So we will see how this whole thing goes !

Like one of the other members mentioned, hot water heaters are no longer $250 bucks, so we shall see how this plays out !(y)
Some heaters require you to remove a cover, mine (and Mom’s) do not, but some minimal foam removal to get the socket on.

I don't have a conventional water heater so no anodes for me to change:
So I see an aluminum/zinc anode and a magnesium anode which one do you guys use and why?
Ph or water hardness or?
I don’t know about with water heaters (our local hardwares only stock zinc) but I know with boats zinc is preferred with saltwater and magnesium for freshwater

My water heater manufacturer says NOT to use an impact gun on the anode rod. They say a 1/2" drive johnson bar/strongarm/breaker bar (depending on whether you are in Western Canada or the 'States) will suffice.
My WH is a 'heat pump' deal. Sucks heat out of the air and that helps the electricity heat the water. I use magnesium rods because that is what is recommended.
I had to go with the impact because I tried the breaker bar with the pipe extension and I was turning the whole water heater, even though I ratchet-strapped it to an eye I installed specifically for the strap… and then it either spun anyway, or the pipe was too long to clear the walls….

Same - I keep a set of bulbs under the seat in case one goes out while out-and-about and it upsets a meme her of the local constabulary… so I can change it right there in front of him.

Good (Tuesday) morning. Overnight Low of 12.5C and it's presently 18.9C, high overcast and calm.

Everything is pretty much back in it's 'place' now and the paddock transfer was done. Today I'll have some 'tractor fun' cleaning up Paddock #1.

That's about it, take care all.
