Back when I lived in Austria vehicle tag fee calculated on engine displacement and vehicle insurance calculated on hp.

I differtiate between "farmers" and "homeowners".
I don't see EV technology capable yet to work for commercial farms. Current EV tech is capable enough to do what homeowners need - run for an hour then sit around for a week on a charger.
My opinion is that all light duty passenger vehicles should be mandated to go hybrid. EV is nice but we don't have the infrastructure to support it.
This carbon tax we have is pure BS. If we want consumers to be more carbon friendly then we need to do what they do in europe and tax by engine displacement. Nobody needs 400HP in a car. If you want it, great. Pay your over consumption tax.
