electric vehicles

Back when I lived in Austria vehicle tag fee calculated on engine displacement and vehicle insurance calculated on hp.

So large displacement and high hp a double whammy.
I differtiate between "farmers" and "homeowners".

I don't see EV technology capable yet to work for commercial farms. Current EV tech is capable enough to do what homeowners need - run for an hour then sit around for a week on a charger.

My opinion is that all light duty passenger vehicles should be mandated to go hybrid. EV is nice but we don't have the infrastructure to support it.

This carbon tax we have is pure BS. If we want consumers to be more carbon friendly then we need to do what they do in europe and tax by engine displacement. Nobody needs 400HP in a car. If you want it, great. Pay your over consumption tax.

People in the US have been paying a gas guzzler consumption tax since 1980. Some have just started to notice it.

In 1969 I purchased a Ford with one of the Super Boss Cobra Jet engines. Ford had to sell 500 vehicles with the high performance engine so they could run it in Ford Products on the Nascar circuit. The thing took white Amoco back then and got between 7-8 miles a gallon on the highway. White Amoco was costing 39-40 cents a gallon then. I think I gave less than $4,000 for the vehicle new when purchased at a Ford Dealer. The gas guzzler tax enacted 1980 would have added $7,700 dollars as a Gas Guzzling Tax because I don't think you could have gotten 12.5 MPG in the thing if you knocked it out of gear and coasted down every hill.

If we all acted like responsible adults we wouldn't need police, lawyers and a court system.

You feel that it's your right to impose your "wants" on others but it's against your rights if someone else tells you the same thing.

I'm all for choice - if you love burning your money that's your business. I don't want to have to pay a carbon tax to fund somebody's right to be wasteful. I choose to be conservative with my money and resources.

If you want to live like a crack wh0re then that's your decision - I just want to stop subsidizing crack wh0re lifestyles and lack of responsible adult decision making skills.
Im not imposing anything. Im against mandates. Thats imposing. What the heck are you talking about? Your the one thats for imposing but only on a certain set of populous. Just to homeowners...... right..... not farmers. Who do you think is getting all of subsidies right now. Farmers and green energy. Thats who is getting it. Yet your on here telling me I live like crack ***** but know nothing about what I do, where I live, what I contribute to the environment. Its a good thing you live in canada b/c you are the type of people we dont want in the US.

Thats BS. This whole taxing people based on hp is dumb. So a farmer can have over 2000hp of machinery and pay nothing but my god if i have 400hp car that gets 25mpg. I should be double taxed. Thats crazy talk and you all know it. Carbon tax is just another dumbass way to collect taxes for green boondoggles and tech. thats all it is. transferring wealth from one industry to another. Make you and mike will get sick of it at some point and actually protest something

I really wanted for y'all to see that if an electric car has been in
an accident don't touch it you can get your battery over charged!
They are really dangerous vehicles! I have read about some big
pile ups on the highway and if they were all electric cars nobody
could touch them they would have to wait for the electric company
guys with the proper equipment to get them out of the cars!

Oh Puuuuulease. Dramatic much?
You are more likely to have your ICE vehicle catch fire with that gas bomb in the back.
EV fires less likely than ICE

"The IIHS, or Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), is an independent science and education organization that aims to make motor vehicles of all sorts safer. They conducted two studies that show that EVs are as safe as gas powered cars, and may even be safer when it comes to injury claims."

The question remains is what do insurers think?

Several parking structures in the city have restricted EV parking.

Instances of Electric Vehicle catching fire and posing a fire hazard if the battery shorts out have been reported. Gas powered vehicles pose the same fire risks.

Home insurance companies now ask if you park an EV in your garage. Why? Maybe a rate reduction?

Instances of fires starting when a Electric Vehicle is being improperly charged might be the "Why"?
