Nope. The last thing I want is being 30 miles from a paved road and having no juice to move the vehicle.
But people have no fear of their EV dying in the Lincoln Tunnel during rush hour?
Thats a far greater threat to public safety.

You could say the same thing about running out of gas in the Lincoln Tunnel during rush hour. Prior planning prevents piss poor performance.

OK lets compare adding 2 gallons of gas to an ICE car stuck in traffic in the Lincoln Tunnel, to trying to get a charging station to a EV car stuck in traffic in the Lincoln Tunnel???

Can a Tesla even be towed with a tow strap?

I was in my bone stock 1930 Model coming back from a show.

One of the guys had a full hot rod Model A with a 350 Chevy and lots of chrome.

His fuel pump went out... busy SF Bay Bridge... I had a tow strap and I towed it 4 miles off the bridge.

Wish I had a camera... lots of laughs as people passed seeing a little old towing new...

Probably so. That urban world is something I don’t experience very often. I have had to walk out 12 miles on a logging road when the fuel pump quit on the truck. I think the urban people have access to chargers that we don’t have in the boonies. If I lived in an urban area and worked nearby, I would consider an EV, but it’s ridiculous to make an off road EV.

I don't think a Tesla can be flat-towed.

Maybe this New Scout will have Warn Hubs to disengage if it ever needs to be towed out of the boondocks?

If you don't have sense enough to watch your gauges then you get what you deserve. I get it, you don't like them. I don't like mandates designed to line somebody's pockets. Yet making up scenarios which start with somebody's stupidity is rather tedious.

Been there. I've done a lot of repairs on the road over the years, before smartening up and running better vehicles. I once replaced the roll pin on the distributer of an F150 with a nail to get it out of the woods, and ran it thst way for over a year before selling it. Wheel bearings on a 4x4 Ranger in the woods, brakes on my Toyota in the parking lot of a motel in Canton NY... I pulled the thermostat on that same truck at 5:30 in the morning on the NY thruway.
Considering all of the places I worked back then and as many times as I broke down, it's a wonder that I was always within 30 miles of home when I had to get towed.
But it wasn't just older vehicles. I left home in my company truck and when I hit the highway the transmission shifted into second and puked right there on the side of the road. I'd never had a problem until then. Of course it was a Chevrolet with one of their disposable trannys.

No,,,, I think we will get what we deserve. In the Lincoln Tunnel example, the traffic will be blocked for all of us.
It’s not “tedious”. Blocked traffic in a tunnel is a life and death scenarios that must be dealt with.
