Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

51.6F going to low 60s, steady rains since 1AM and going to last into tonight.

been a busy several days, tax work is hot&heavy so plenty of OT, took a bit of time on Sunday after church to take Bailey up the woodlot and Mrs & she sent on the mountain walk while I fired up the excavator for the first time this year and did a thorough greasing. I picked up a flexi hose and a Lock&Lube coupler a couple months back and it works wonders for the swing bearing and gear! Instead of greasing “25 pumps and an eighth turn” I can hook it on, start a slow rotation and continuously pump through two full rotations per, as opposed to getting in and out of the cab 16 times (8for the bearing and 8 for the gear).

I also renders down 25+ pounds of beef fat for tallow, and trimmed out enough red meat to make a huge pot of soup (almost 8 pounds). Ten pints of nice yellow tallow, about 5 cups of cracklings, plus the soup.

time to start getting ready for work which means Coffee!!

thisnweekend I will attempt to catch up on GM posts - I am ridiculously behind!

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

47 outside this AM, heading to upper 50's. More rain later. Sigh.

Spring has sprung. Took a walk around the side of the house and the daffodils are all bloomed. Their cousins around the back entrance had me fooled. Now all we need is some dry weather and sun.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

50 going to 59 and rain.

Buppies, forsythia and quince starting to bloom here, too.

Odds and ends done yesterday. Also roasted 3 different Guatemala coffees using the same roast profile, so will be interesting to taste the differences based on the different beans alone.

Good morning! The cold front did make it this far South, we are at 49˚F with a North wind. But it will only last a few hours as the wind will change directions and the warm Southerly Gulf breeze starts again. High this afternoon will be in the mid 80s.

good morning
very foggy out, air is warmer, more rain this afternoon
not a lot planned for today other than packing rv to leave tomorrow.
Only a two hour drive to Lancaster, actually headed to little town named Ronks.
buggies are cute but horse poop everywhere. RV will need a real wash when I get home

I might work on some more up-potting, everything now planted.
trying to figure out how to keep propane on Friday night. It will probably run out before I get home
Saturday noon.
my brother is in Florida. Finding someone I can trust with a propane bottle is not so easy.

Don, enjoy the warm weather. I can't wait to plant my radishes and lettuce this weekend.

Popgadget, hope you trip went well yesterday. Lots of lighting in yesterday’s rain.

Went pretty well considering the weather. There were thunderstorms to the southeast of the airport, but we got to the airport after the weather had passed through it. We landed and departed to the west again and turned north on departure, so we never made it over you……

newbury, my wife is asking if you might would elaborate a bit more. She's asking if you were in a lot of pain that steered the situation towards the MRI?
Yes, I was in a lot of pain. But this was almost 20 years ago and my HMO didn't hand out tickets to MRI's easily. The going costs were in the thousands for the hospital.
Frankly I'm surprised at how low the cost you quoted for an MRI is now.
AND yes the pain was great.

/edit
And it's hard to quantify pain - This pain was similar to a freshly broken ankle, a broken wrist, both of which I'd had before. But far more than a broken finger or the pain of putting a fishhook thru a thumb.

Morning all, 47 going to 53 and rain.
Paint showed up, but rain...
So put up the shelf rails. the M18 hammer drill put a 3/4 bit into the cinder block easily.
The sleeve anchors worked great.

Be well,

good morning, 49 going to 56 and very foggy and high moisture. Rain in FC for later

Wife ordered from Gurneys and used the 100 dollars off coupon.

Went to town to get diesel for the van and drop off parcel for daughter. She just had her 7 year anniversary for being "clean" and doing well in her rehab job.

Flowers are starting to bloom. Always a little later because of elevation. Redbuds should be here soon.

Neighbor building pole barn. Was put up in a day. One day more to do roll up doors and stones and skirt boards. Waiting for concrete next.

Cleaned up some more in the shop area.

Took the plow off the RTV. The easy way is to leave it running and put the hydraulics in float position. Pull out the two pins with the handles until they click into retracted position and pull it off. Then disconnect the electrical plugs and done

36F going to 50F and occasional showers here in Northern CA.

Spring cleanup will start soon, and it is usually a lot of effort. Last year I burned 81 large piles of debris, but that was a very unusual winter.

I have a 17 year old nephew who finishes school in early June. He wants to get a job and make some $$, like most kids his age. He's a city boy, never around rural property. I'm thinking of offering to "hire him" to visit and do some work on our property. Work with me doing cleanup, burning piles, etc. Give us some time together plus he can learn about rural property, tractors, equipment, etc. Maybe make a little lumber on the sawmill.

What is a good pay rate, per day or per week, for a 17 year old? If I make an offer to him, I'd like to be a bit on the generous side. But I have no idea what $$$ that might be?
