Interesting that in tests, a Stihl 300 electric makes about 119db and a stihl 400 gas saw makes about 122db.

That’s only a 3db difference.

3 dB is double intensity, so while I'd have expected it to be more, it's not a small difference. I guess most of the noise is gearing and chain to wood.

My Echo often sits for 6-12 months. I’ve never had it not start on the second pull. I must be lucky

My Echo uses batteries, so I don't even need 1 pull.

There really is no comparison when it comes to weight and runtime with a battery as opposed to the same weight in fuel. None.

Absolutely no dispute about what you said. It's clear that battery saws are for occasional light cutting, trimming, but NOT felling and extensive trimming or bucking.

My Milwaukee top handle is great for tight places and quick trimming but even cutting up a good sized limb (10" - 6" diameter and ~9' long) pushed it to it's limits on a XC5.0 battery.

Our 80 volt Kobalt line of power tools do well. The 18" chainsaw is impressive.

I’m pleased with my the AP battery saws.

Thanksgiving to Christmas the farm sells about 3300 Christmas Trees.

Each tree is at least one fresh cut and for years that was with Stihl gas saws and 3300 starts is very hard on the 2 gas saws…

Bought the first battery saw and it quickly became the only saw everyone wanted and one charge would last all day… no servicing other than chain oil and adjust tension.

The gas saws had carb issues as well as rope pull cord and spark plugs… plus no more mixing oil and gas.

Every winter storms topple oaks across the trails and I don’t even bring the gas saw out to clear…

And the diameter of those Christmas trees are what ~4-6"? Or less? That would make a battery saw perfect for a Christmas tree lot or farm.

Yes… 95% less than 6 but also have some hefty 14-16’ tall which are greater than 6

For that you would want to start off with a fresh battery or be ready with one when needed?

For the folks who don't do many hours, or miles of a hiking to clear trails. Weight really is a big deal.

Yes, a Christmas tree farm is the perfect place for a battery saw.

Felling 70' tall trees and processing them is not.
