Good Morning
62° with a high of 70. Overcast now becoming partly sunny with no rain.

Yesterday was a productive day, pre-construction meeting went well, I took the last drawings to the township office and left with a building permit, which is a good thing, because digging starts on Monday.
I’ve got a batch of trees to trim for Concrete truck access, shrubbery to remove and one tree to cut down before then.

I did a little puttering on the diesel tank, added an in line flow meter / totalizer, replaced the goldenrod filter assembly, I couldn’t get the old one to stop dripping after I changed the filter.

Today I’ll start on the landscaping, and I’ve got to remark the utilities going to the shop, as the new footings will cross them in two places. There is a water line, a 2”pressure sewer line, a conduit with electric feed to the shop and from the generator and another conduit with data, phone and coax in it. At least they all run in the same trench.

I should also think about mowing again, the cool damp weather for the last week has been great for growing grass.

Today going to get a new hydraulic hose for the tractor. Noticed it was leaking after I cleaned out the milk parlor to use for parking for the new splitter. It is a short one for the front hydraulics and it is leaking at the crimp fitting. Hose seems ok.
Using the RTV for backing up the splitter is more agile and besides it can get under the door opening to the milk parlor. Sometimes it would be good to have a smaller tractor

Good Morning!!!! 56F @ 5:45AM back here in Yankee Hill.
Sunny. High 89F. Winds light and variable.

Looks like a very nice splitter, Frits. Nothing better than having the right tool for the job.

Speaking of fire wood, did you really mean fireplace in the "old folks home", Paul? I would think a wood stove would be much more efficient. Then again, some of the fireplace inserts might as well be wood stoves, as they use the same principles.

I awoke to a drizzle yesterday morning, and remembered I had yet to check the oil and air pressure in the tires on the van. But by the time I'd finished breakfast, the rain had stopped. Just a few sprinkles along the coast going north, but first I had to clear a miles long traffic jam in little Santa Maria on US101. It usually backs up for a few blocks "downtown", but this morning the powers that be chose to close one of the two northbound lanes for a few miles. The usual CalTrans clowns standing around fooling with traffic cones with no visible work being done. So the extra early 7AM departure was something of a waste. Had another near collision when someone came down the on ramp in Sacramento and didn't bother to look over their shoulder before coming into the lane. Forced me over into the next lane but it was already occupied. Between jumping the brakes really hard and the other driver giving me some space, I was able to avoid crumpled metal on both sides. Reminded me I still haven't looked into installing dash cams.

By the time I made Chico and got gas, the computer was telling me I got a little over 20 MPG on that last tank. Quite an improvement over the 12-14 MPG while towing that box trailer.

It was 86F when I got here, hotter in Chico where I stopped to grocery shop and run a couple of other errands. The house was 81F inside, so I kicked on the A/C for the first time this year. Need to hose out the outside unit and change the filter, more ToDos to the list. Replacing the water softener valve and starting the little trailer repaint are on today's list. Oh, and installing a new hydraulic line on the grapple so I can use it to tip up the trailer so it's sitting on its tail gate, allowing me to grind the rust off the bottom.

TGIF gang!

Morning all, 60 going to 72 and cloudy
Spent a few more hours playing catchup with the trimmer.
Then off to the son's choir concert, also had the bands and orchestra, so a long night.
Great ending music with all of them on stage, and barely room to move.

Today need to get more mulch, finish trimming and weld mower deck, some of that might be on tomorrow's list too.

Popgadget - Permit in hand , great news. Now the fun begins.

Be well,

Super crowded stage, son all the way in back.

If only permits were that fast here.

Got 4 rows potatoes planted and rest of the plastic down. Had more potatoes, decided 4 rows is enough. Only do 3 most years, and won’t like 4 rows come fall. Was muddy today, I guess from dew and moisture coming back out of ground. Didn’t get any rain, but it’s coming today.

Started to mow, but too wet. Maybe it will dry a little more later. Just mowed a little behind the barn then quit.

This morning I watched a video that showed more than thirty spot fires that were started by that arsonist day before yesterday. And sometime in the next few days, that madman will get a hearing in front of a judge to determine if he'll be set free with only $17,000 in bail. Shockingly, this isn't the first time he's been caught lighting fires. The whole neighborhood is up in arms, and it looks like the courtroom will be packed...

Good morning! Low of 48°, already up to 67°, heading for 76°. Clear blue sky. Yesterday, we finally got some rain.... just under a 1/4". Let's see ---- since January we have gotten a whopping total of 2.45". So, basically 1/2" a month. It's a wonder that anything grows here.....

WNG, enjoy the puppy time!

Dennis, nice garden. Why no corn?

LFN, be nice to the quacks.... Hope PT is going good. Any major deficits?

RNG, glad you didn't get sandwiched on the highway. Almost happened to me on I-40, the idiot didn't see the State Patrol behind me.... they did see the fancy red / blue flashing lights though.... They probably didn't learn from the experience....

Drew, enjoy your brief RV trip. Having friends cook for you --- priceless.

We should hit the low 80's this weekend... not looking forward to the summer.... gonna be hot....
I hope we get some moisture with this year's monsoon.

Everyone have a great day!

59 outside this AM, heading to mid 70's. Grey outside, clouds moved in ahead of next weather event. Yep, more rain coming in later.

Not much happened yesterday. Day jobs, lawyers, paper work.

Started dodging the baby birds that seem to have started flying. Or attempting too. Some cat already got one. Moma bird not too happy about that. Hopefully by today the babies will have figured out flight better. The barn area is not a good place to build nests.

Took the tractor on the perimeter spin last evening. Grasses very high, a few trees blocked some paths. Need to get the chain saw out sometime this weekend. I don't think they are firewood quality. Hope to finish the path maintenance this afternoon. Still sogging in a few spots.

Hope all have a good start to the weekend. Those ailing, get well soon. Be safe all.

Edit: Did not post for some reason, it is 69 degrees now and still cloudy and damp.

64F with a steady, moderate rain shower @ 12:00, calling for a high of 70F. Rain chances tapering off over the next several hours.

LWS reports 0.85" accumulation since midnight.

Going to schedule a couple of online payments then prepare some mealworms and refill the feeder on the way up to the shop.

Then work on the lift cylinder once I get up there, hopefully get that finished up today.

Hope everyone is having a decent Friday ... (y)
