As a younger guy (31) my friends and I discuss this regularly.
I certainly am not about to have a kid with a woman without three things: 1.) A good job 2.) a house and 3.) a piece of property
I have one of three currently. That's also assuming I can find a stable enough woman who wants to live a similar lifestyle (Rural, homestead type). In my mind, I am way behind my original plan. I thought I'd be married with a kid by now, but that's life. Man plans, God laughs.
I'll get to where I want to be eventually, but I'm beginning to realize I might have put the cart before the horse. Every younger parent I've spoken to sounds like you put together a family while putting together a home.
Oh well, so be it. Those are my principles and I'm not budging from them.
