Not Enough Babies?

Never heard of Politifact. But- how can any responsible site put out a spending chart that omits one of the largest slices of the pie? Interest on the national debt, last I knew, was now as much or more than all of our spending on national defense.

I don't see it on the chart. Is there a good reason they would omit that?

As a younger guy (31) my friends and I discuss this regularly.

I certainly am not about to have a kid with a woman without three things: 1.) A good job 2.) a house and 3.) a piece of property

I have one of three currently. That's also assuming I can find a stable enough woman who wants to live a similar lifestyle (Rural, homestead type). In my mind, I am way behind my original plan. I thought I'd be married with a kid by now, but that's life. Man plans, God laughs.

I'll get to where I want to be eventually, but I'm beginning to realize I might have put the cart before the horse. Every younger parent I've spoken to sounds like you put together a family while putting together a home.

Oh well, so be it. Those are my principles and I'm not budging from them.

As to babies... at least in the medical field foreign born employees continue to increase and if not foreign born then first generation.

So many RNs have ties to the Philippines and many doctors ties to India... at least here.

In 1991 not a single nurse from the Philippines and now 60% with the number 2 and 3 top management covered.

I think a lot is cultural... to have a son or daughter RN is a job well fone for the family...

I put my wife Filipino wife through school although only to LPN. The 2 doctors in her clinic are African and Italian. That's at the VA no less. She started out as a CNA in a facility that was over 50% Filipino staffed. When she was trying to figure out what to do as a career, I told her, don't fight it, go into health care! She is by fare the most complimented nurse on the staff. All the patients love her, even the cranky old ones, she always wins them over.

On the subject of population drop, it's a thing for sure. Filipinos are doing what they can to help out. My wife has 6 siblings, 4 out of 7 are working abroad.

I am sure the people in the third world having no money and 6-10 kids will fill in any gaps in first world population.

Instead of integration, we will see more groups trying to change to what they came from.

Well that will at least reduce the need for toilet paper.

With regard to government employees, I'm the only non government employee in our 3 household neighborhood.

2 are federal employees, VA
2 are state employees, university and public grade school
1 is a city employee, firefighter

Make sure you get advice from an attorney before you get married to check the laws in your state concerning divorce and what your woman can or cannot take from you.

Tell that to your "third world" caregiver when you end up in assisted living and need to be wiped. Good luck!

I plan on a pre-nuptual.

It would be a different story if she had built this with me, but if a woman wants to come into my life, she better have enough respect for all I've done to sign a legal document stating that she has no right to what I've worked for if the marriage doesn't work out.
