off early to an important doc appt, new ENT, hope to get some help with tinnitus/Menieres.
more tests, more tests.

then home to work in garden. Going to pick last of lettuce and rip out the poor growing radishes.
Then have some squash and melons to plant in their place. I really need to find some diatomaceous earth
to put in the soil, too many veggie biters in there

Will be a great outside day!
First stop this morning will be at one of my sisters to see about getting her little Kioti running. It has been parked since last October. She also wants my string trimmer for a bit. After that I have grass that needs cutting and deck rails to prep for paint.
Couple of small projects in the shop completed but no pics at the moment.

A perfect day to work outside.

Yesterday’s trip went well, one of those rare days when the weather was great on the entire east coast. It still killed the whole day when you factor in the drive to the airport and back. I put the trash and recycling down to the street, only to realize when I went through my emails that the pickup was pushed back a day due to the Memorial Day holiday. So I went down and brought them back up.

Today I’m putting in the plumbing drains that go under the slab, glad it’s a great day to work outside.

I’m going to try to remember to capture a picture from the “construction cam” every morning, then put them together into a time lapse when it’s done. Here is this morning.

Busy day, changed another hydraulic hose on the tractor that was abraded. 50 dollars for a short hose but made it a little longer to reroute it out of harms way

Moved another section of the upper area. Changed the mower belt for the ZD331. Was able to do it without taken the deck off or remove the gearbox. Man that spring for the idler is very strong but used a ratcheting load strap to pull the idler arm enough to get slack to get the belt off. Off course one of the bolts fell down on the underside of the deck so it was tricky without a second person to get it to stay long enough to get the nut on top of the deck. Also changed the oil on the gearbox.
Why do they make it so the only way to drain it it runs out on top of the deck. But sucking it out gets most of it.

Drew this a lot testing. Hope they will help in figuring out what is going on. Hope for the best

Good morning! A glorious rainy cool morning at 64˚F, 1.1" rain, variable winds, heading to only the mid 80s.

Said a 2 week goodby to PT yesterday after yesterday's session, to do the big move. The wood floor, which was confirmed solid mesquite and not a laminate will be refurbished today, it does not need re-sanding only a buffing and refinishing to get out the dog claw scratches of the last owner. We will continue to identify the items that we do not need for the next 2 weeks and box them and take them to the new house. It is a whole lot easier moving when moving to a bigger house. The movers and their big truck have been scheduled to move the furniture.

Another round of rain might hit us this afternoon. Nice.

But trying to get stuff done with most of the proper tools not here is getting old.

And buying a second set of tools is getting REAL expensive.
I've been split between 2 houses, one in Virginia, one in Mississippi since 2010. Spending one to 3 months, then go to the other.
For a while duplicates (hand tools, small power tools, lawnmowers, weedeaters etc.) were not too bad, and often solved by judicious splurging on sales. For instance the local Lowes was clearing out some Kobalt "household" tool sets. They had sets "retail" over $100, for $10. I bought about 7. Gave one to each child. Still have one unopened.
But now with the increase in prices and needing a duplicate cordless leaf blower I spent ~$300 for a DeWalt "flexvolt" leaf blower for use in Mississippi because my son has to use my previous model (that cost ~$100) in Virginia.
Still better than toting it back and forth.
IF I get to "retire" someplace I'll sure have a lot of duplicate tools.

/edit - and one of the problems I have is that I lived a long time using the MacGyver method of making do with whatever tools were handy.
Now I find it frustrating to not have the proper tool I own, but it's 900 miles away.
I just had to take off a hydraulic hose in a tight space. I needed a short 23mm wrench to have a "full" turn. I'm in Mississippi. I know where it is in Virginia. I ended up using my "long" 23mm, about 1/8 turn at a time.

Yes. There is a pump tank behind my shop that feeds into the house 4” main trunk. The addition will drain to that tank.

She wanted a significant amount of pasture fence work done, I told her that I wasn’t going to do it with the 3PT auger, it lacks down pressure for our shale infested soil, and is tough on my back to twist around to see it.
I said that for what a hydraulic auger for the front end loader would cost, we could hire someone to do the fence posts and gates. Her reply was “but then you wouldn’t have an auger”.
That’s why it will be 50 years.

With a 3 mph wind I am glad I got the grass all cut yesterday. The bugs will be bad today if I had left it.

Me, too. I also changed out the spray nozzles on the spray bar so the droplets are bigger and don't drift in the air.

Easy trip yesterday. Really surprised how much difference in mileage the small trailer made. I was seeing almost 19 MPG on the first tank of gas with the small trailer yesterday, and still had 250 miles of range showing on my arrival. The box trailer averaged 12-14 MPG, and I'd have to stop twice for gas.

At the first gas stop I got a couple estimates for shipping the old motorcycle engine. I was pretty shocked at the $360-$460 prices. I was even more shocked when the shipper left voice mail that the shipper he contacted added a hundred for a "fuel service fee", and another hundred dollars for residential pickup. And that he was unwilling to drive the thirty minutes to drop it off at a freight terminal of the shipper. I'll have a go today to see if I can find a better way, but at this point it could easily turn out that the shipping costs more than the parts are worth.

Took several tries to back the trailer into the side yard, but with the help of a friend we got it done. Fortunately the neighbor's driveway directly across the street aligned perfectly with the two concrete wheel tracks in the front yard that lead up to the gate into the side yard where the trailer will be parked. And the ramps made from pieces of 2x8 held the weight of the van with no issues. Just took a little fiddling to get everything lined up. But we did end up unhitching the trailer, putting the wheel back on the jack, and then armstronging it to the parking spot. The whole side yard is concrete, a very nice upgrade from the gravel I'm used to. And there's still plenty of room left for either the van or car.

Unloading and a bit of unpacking today, and going through the stack of accumulated mail.

Good Morning,
Vt, 42 to start going to 71 ! Another beautiful and sunny day !

Went down to the marina yesterday afternoon and fixed two broken items on the pontoon boat. The front door latch was broken and replaced that and the floor mount for the table in the bow had loosened up so o rotated it a few degrees and reinstalled the screws! Seems to be good to go now ! We were going to go out for a ride but it was really windy with white caps out on the lake so we just sat on the boat and had a glass of wine together!

Cool this morning so I’m thinking of getting the tractor out of the barn and mow part of the property with the bush hog ! Will try not to take out the power today !

IF I get to "retire" someplace I'll sure have a lot of duplicate tools.
