Good morning!!!!

Good morning! A cooler 68˚ this morning. One very strong wind from the NE blasted in yesterday afternoon sending the heavy date trees on the patio into the yard.

Wood floor refurbisher called to cancel yesterday he was on his way to Houston to get a part, reschedUled for today. He assured me his crew could finish before we move. he said a lot of floors in our neighborhood could not be refinished because they were laminate, I assured him ours was real wood but he is coming out to make sure anyways.

You now have to go in person to the post office for a change of address. We went there at 4 yesterday and there was no parking so my wife let me out while she circled the parking lot. When I got inside I saw why 40 people in line and the lines were not moving. Finally got to the front of the line a minute before they closed and changed the address so mail will be forwarded. You have to show ID now, that's why the in person requirement.

Spent the evening getting the leaves out of the pool from the wind storm. Water was warmer than the air temp.

good morning, 61 going to 71 a shower possible later this PM

Replaced the mower blades with the spare set sharpened and balanced. Discovered a crack in the deck support that needs attention. See if you can spot the problem in the pic? Also the mower belt is half way torn so need to get e new one on. I think gearbox needs to come off to do that

Wife's blood work looked good so no changes to her meds but both shoulders needs replacement. She does not want to do that even though she is in pain. I am helping more and more. She can not do her hair any more

please share your favorite war movies, that fit for Memorial Day watching.

Saving Private Ryan
The Lost Battalion
Sargent York
Heartbreak Ridge
I read the "Lone Survivor" book first, then saw the movie. Excellent book and good movie. Harrowing true story of a 4-man team behind the lines in Afghanistan who get discovered. As you can tell from the title, only one survives.

Forecast for 80F here in sunny California.

Cleaned up road shoulders through the property yesterday. Wanted to place a huge downed log as a roadside barrier, something stout that could stop a truck or large piece of machinery. That was difficult and risky. The log is about 33" diameter, a bit over 20 ft long. Big, heavy log. My tractor can lift 2,000 lb-- not nearly enough. So I dragged/skidded it up a hill while dealing with a side slope hoping it would not roll sideways and take off. Finally got it placed near the shoulder, and used the grapple to roll it into position just off the road edge. It's nice to safely accomplish something that is a bit hairy to do. But not so fun when actually doing the work when the outcome or success is unknown.

Everyone have a great day !!!

Turned on the irrigation for the first time since November.

The weekly rains after years of drought has made the flora very happy!

It may not rain for months to come and the ground is drying out.

Good Morning!!!! 61F @ 6:15AM. Mostly sunny. High around 90F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.
I call it tunnel vision. I have found things that are in places that I have already looked. I have good vision. But my mind is looking for some other color or position.
I do the same thing way too often, Ron. Sometimes it seems like I spend more time looking for a tool or part than performing the task at hand. Good case of misery loves company.

Glad you got away with the log move with no surprises, PH. Good feeling of relief when something like that finishes, but I've really lost my appetite for those kind of stunts and won't miss them at all once I'm settled in the new place on a cozy quarter acre.

Hope you have good luck with the tractor today, David.

I hadn't noticed the Starlink outages from yesterday as I was still working outside when they happened. Longest was four and a half minutes according to the app. As much of an improvement as Starlink has been here out in the sticks, I won't miss having to put up with poor support and sometimes wonky service.

Got the cul-de-sac and loop road sprayed yesterday, taking far longer than I'd have thought. But used a stronger concentration of RM43 and went really slow. Got through the whole 2 1/2 gallon bottle, and still had to run a load of straight glyphosate to finish. The side-by-side had been having trouble with a coolant leak and overheating, but was flawless yesterday in pretty warm weather. Miraculous healing?

Thought I was done with the little trailer but hadn't hooked the tail lights up yet. Hitched it up and none of the lights worked. After an hour of messing with them I learned that one lead in the trailer somewhere is shorted to ground, and being so late in the day, just gave up. Got the big hydraulic press loaded, but by then it was way past quittin' time and dinner. Gonna have to delay the trip south a day, but that'll let me make a town run and take care of a thing or two more here. Really don't need the trailer lights, as the van is big enough that the trailer doesn't obstruct the view of the van tail lights and I won't be driving at night. Probably could still get a fix it ticket, though. On the plus side, the backup camera on the van can see over the trailer, so I can see where I'm going when in reverse for a change. But trying to get stuff done with most of the proper tools not here is getting old.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

At 11:33 AM the long lost tape measure was found cowering behind the shelf in the garage, camouflaged in the dark along the back wall, with its 300 ft tail all curled up around a spool. The frightened thing was coaxed out of hiding with a gentle tug, and has been secured in its owners truck. Film at 11:00.

66°F and 1.76 inches rain

Did get to run my tractor at a high idle while unloading and hooking up the brush hog with no incident., but it started to rain just as I finished so didn’t get to run under load. I still think it needs to be under load to fail and hope I can test this morning.

Pick up house/pet sitter friends at airport this afternoon, then a nice dinner out.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Bingo, especially color.
Sophie gives me no end of grief when I finally find something where I already looked 3 times, but even worse if SHE finds it where I said I already looked. She and the other wives call it a male thing.
