Depends on which one you buy. This one is about half the size the OP mentioned:

At $20 apiece, you could buy two.
I use a couple of "Fat 50" 50 cal ammo cans (slightly larger than the regular 50 cal cans, but they go inside my larger box. One holds various chainsaw parts & tools (spare chains, scrench, chainsaw multitool, bar rail dresser, stump vise, sharpenging files & guides, and etc). The other holds first aid supplies. When I need one or the other, I just grab the appropriate box. larger tools and supplies sit in the bigger box, but outside the ammo cans.

The military also used to have what they called “medical chests”. Large containers of similar construction to their metal ammo cans. Just going from memory, but I think they are something like 3 or 3.5 ft wide X 2 ft deep X about 1 ft high.

This is one of my saw boxes on an L3010. Finished with 50/50 mix of boiled linseed oil and turpentine - all it would soak up. Been in service since 2012 and like new to this day.

The M5640 box is on post #18 and I have added gas and oil storage to that.

Could I ask about your tire chains? I'm trying to decide if it would be worth spending $700 on chains for my Power Trac 1445 to increase hillside traction going up and down. Other Power Trac owners have expressed mixed opinions if they are worth or not. Just curious on what your experience has been using chains on your tractor if you could help me out?

I took those pictures in the beginning of December and had just put on the chains getting ready for winter. For me in northern VT chains are indispensable in winter both on the road and in the woods. I have them on both tractors. I have R1 Ag tires and use euro style chains because they can not hide between the tractor lugs like ladder chains do.

I do run the chains in the woods at times when there is no ice or snow because I don't take them off until I need to do some work or just have to travel a lot on my gravel roads. But once they are off I leave them off until the next fall/winter. They do help with traction so there is less need for the diff-lock and steering brakes with summer chains but with my loaded tires and not working in muddy conditions I get along fine in the woods w/o chains in the summer.

I use an open Rubbermaid box on my Farmall Cub. It holds a chainsaw, small gas and oil cans, log chains, etc..

I don’t work outside much in the rain, so no need for a top. I store the tractors in the barn. I can remove the box of woodcutting supplies from the wood side rack and store it up on a shelf. I also carry that box of woodcutting supplies in the back of my Durango field car, on the 3 point carryall of my Ford 8n tractor, in the bucket of my loader tractor, in the bed or behind the seat of my pickup truck, or in the boxes of my dads or my father in laws Polaris Rangers, depending what and where I am cutting.

It don’t rain a ton where we are (upstate NY), but I usually have no shortage of “rainy day” jobs to do inside, including equipment maintenance and splitting large rounds in my “splitter shed”. The sun is shining today, but it’s supposed to rain tomorrow, so I just got set up for that job.

On rainy days, I split in there and load the split stuff into the bucket of my canopy-roofed loader tractor. Then I unload it and stack under the wide overhang of my woodshed, which is behind the splitter shed. I’ve got about (2) years supply split and stacked in there now (12 face cords), but there’s room for (12) more so I got a little work yet to do with that box.

Mr. Gordon, thoughtful placement of your saw box.

How do you attach the box to the plywood platform? Do you keep it permanently mounted on your tractor?

Look at the fourth picture in post 45 above. The box just sets there locked in place by the ROPS. It is heavy enough so that it just sits there. Both the box and plywood shelf just lift off when I want to remove them to do something like grade the road and need to be able to see.
