Today's work customer wanted dead pine trees thrown and all the ones that were already down cut up and hauled off down in the woods and put in a big pile, the bad part was that this was about 90% hand work as it was to tight to get any equipment In there, but if you cut logs in short enough pieces you can handle about any of them. It was terribly hot today so I only worked until about 12:30 but by then me and my youngest son was able to get 17 loads of these logs to the pile and all of the dead pines on the ground, we will jump on this again next week, the customer is a widow and I knew her husband , that's the only reason I took this job, because there are lot of easier ways to scratch out a living. Back to preventative weed spraying in one of my hay fields early this morning before the wind got up. Plan on fertilizing early next week.

Patriot (metsulfuron) and Outlaw (2,4-D). Thats a good combination for broadleafs and bahia. I use the metsulfuron a lot on athletic fields for Virginia Buttonweed and to take out bahia. It's cheap and works pretty well. I need to spray my yard because the bahia is taking over in some areas.

2,4-D is a little more tricky to use on athletic fields. It will smoke tomatoes and bell peppers in nearby gardens.

Bahia and a multitude of weeds were my target this morning,I will probably have to hit this particular field next time with Pastora to get the crab grass and vasey grass but neither are bad enough yet to do it, and yes spray drift can do some serious damage if your not careful that's why I always try to spray first thing in the morning or just before dark when the wind has layed down.

Got all my fields fertilized yesterday and we got 2 inches of rain last night to soak it in, we desperately needed the rain as we have been in a really dry spell, so bad most of us have been feeding hay because our cow pastures have been brown from lack of rain, the good Lord blessed us once again. Yes, sometimes they charge a $50 fee, sometimes they don't, mostly they charge the fee, but I get a lot of stuff through them from fertilize, herbicide, pesticide, seed ,etc, so I guess they feel sorry for me from time to time about how much money I spend so they waive the fee periodically.
