SA Series Oil Filter

I just got back from my Yanmar dealer after picking up engine oil and a filter for the 200 hr service on my SA324. After taking off the old filter I noticed the new one is larger. The dealership is now closed for the weekend. The filter threads and rubber gasket look identically sized, and I think there is space enough to fit the big filter on the tractor. Also, note the last 5 numbers of the filter part numbers are identical (-35170). See the photo. I think I will put it on, unless someone thinks that's a bad idea. Thanks.

I wouldn't hesitate to use an OEM filter that was larger as long as the gasket size is the same.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. However when I tried to put it on it didn't fit. It was too wide and interfered with the engine mount structure. I think I'll head to the auto parts store.

Well, bummer. I bought an STP filter that looked perfect, but the threads are not a match. I guess I'll get the correct Yanmar filter next week.

That would bug me, particularly after draining the oil and all.

That is the filter for the YT and YM tractors. The dealer probably grabbed the wrong one or the wrong one was packed in the kit.
