I must be doing something wrong?

I have a bunch of users on my ignore list. Post about politics in a thread that's not about politics? Ignored. Say ignorant stuff about California? Ignored. Say something mean? Ignored. There's no reason I need to read any of that.

Sometimes I read posts from ignored users if the context seems to indicate they made a comment that's not in one of those categories. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong.

It'd be nice if there was a more nuanced way to curate what you read here. Ignore is a blunt instrument.

I need a good Jerky recipe guys, but not from anyone from California please. 😁

There are a few posters who I tend to skip right over, but generally believe that everyone has the right to say what they think
I thought about putting someone on ignore once, but decided not to. A short time later he posted something timely and on point; which made me glad I didn't.
The only person I've had on ignore was DodgeMan, a couple of times. I didn't even know I had done it, somehow I hit the wrong sequence of buttons. He's one of the last people here I would want to block.

As a Mainer, I suspect when you read something that irritates you, you audibly mumble something slightly passive-aggressive under your breath and carry on with your day.

🤣

I don't have any on my list, but occasionally there are a couple users who tempt me with their bloviating.

I can see this sad old man sitting at his computer trying to convince all there words on his screen that he's rich and has all these toys and should apparently be listened to and I just take a moment to try and remember "don't be that guy".

Very occasionally he does have useful tidbits - probably more than I realize because I skip most of his posts.

None. It's the internet for Christ sakes. If you get your feelings hurt on a tractor site, you need some help.

Some I skip over but to much good info from posters to have done things I may ask about to worry about my feelings.

I just don't take things personally, unless you bring my family in on it in a bad way.

For many folks it has nothing to do with hurt feelings. No one on this site could possibly hurt my feelings. I do however, value my time enough to skip over one poster in particular.

In fact, I don't even read people's response to that one on my ignore list. I do read just enough of their response to see that he is always irritating someone and I just chuckle and move on.

Then there about 3 others that are not on ignore but I really intentionally skip because they are too long winded or too arrogant.

I don't like my time wasted, it's mine and I'll spend it how I want.

Trust me, I jump over some post because of the OP also. Not worth it.

Sometimes I'll respond just to piss off the OP. I don't think I've done it much here but on another forum....it's game on

Mostly good people here so I don't see too much of a problem

I have 1 on ignore. A cut and paste expert that can't have an opinion of his own.

I was surprised to find that I have 25 users being ignored, but that is over the course of 24 years so I'm sure many are long gone. I'm not thinned skinned, I just don't want to be bothered with the following behaviors (in rough order):
Threaten violence
Verbally abusive.
Otherwise uncivilized.
Clear trolling.
Conspiracy theorist.
Political posts or comments with zero real content (whining).
Consistent "know it alls", braggarts, or people that clearly have no idea what they're talking about (on a frequent basis).

Curious, is one of them Roadhunter?

3, well 4 if I count myself. Have several I just scroll past from experience.

Sorry for the dumb question, but I don't know how it works. How do you read a post by someone that is ignored? Does the post still show up, but without any text or what?

Do you have to temporarily "unignore" them to read the post?

To answer the OP question, I have none on the ignored list and haven't ever used it. I sort of look at each thread as a story and sort of feel like you need all the posts to get the full story.

1 but only because I don't like having to scroll past huge cut and paste text over and over. Read it once (maybe) and then it stays out of my way.
I also have just one, and I'm pretty sure it's the same guy as yours.
