good morning all
71 out now only going up to 74 today in clouds, more rain this afternoon.
1.67 on rain gauge for yesterday

nice job on the bracket RS. Maybe you can coat it with something that won't corrode in that environment?

another Aussie word to look up
Lucerne is a nice city in Switzerland and a Buick I used to own.
But this lucerne is another name for alfalfa.

busy morning today, three stops and then home.
need to start getting serious about cleaning house for guests this weekend.
no excuses since it will be raining

hope you all have a nice day
Never put off til tomorrow what you can do the next day. ;)

72 and super foggy/mist. Looking forward to the needed rain from the tropical storm. Should see 87 later.

Real nice job, mpham. Better than new.

Sodamo, good news on Sophie.

Wife's mom fell and broke her hip late yesterday, soon after my wife left from visiting her...so back she went. She is already in hospice care, and the doctor said surgery was too risky. So pain meds may be the only answer.

I got some string trimming done...the battery outlasted me this time. Then took Della hiking at the park for her exercise.

well, well well
isn't this interesting
after I noticed I/we had disappeared off the "reaction" board, which we all call likes,
now it's been redone.
Good Morning rocks!

no wonder Muhammad had some issues with this...I get it now.

Yep, stats aren't kept on the front porch. Maybe it was just an experiement to see how post counts change without GM thread since it dominates the site. Also look at members vs guests, 359,593 members and there are 40 members and 1,821 guests online. Only those 40 members gonna see you if you post on the Front porch.

I would think keeping track of how many post and views in a thread would be a more accurate way to get a good count of forum. But how do you do that with 2000 guest and 40 members viewing all of TBN this morning. How many of those guest are viewing GM?

I'm ok with that.
no desire to be an influencer and my thoughts to this group
aren't designed for a wider audience.

but I'm really ok with those who want to go wider.
so now I'm confused.
I didn't check that page very often, but I think it was very different in the past. I wasn't even in top 5.
not that I cared.
It's more like a lot of other folks were cut out and our group surged forward. Though I think Hay Dudes count come
from another place.

it is considered inappropriate to discuss the site's operations after some point.
So far I think Muhammad has been very responsive to input.
But it's his bus to drive.
nothing is perfect but I think this is very good.
enough

Good Morning,
Ct, 61 to start going to 71, with heavy skies and rain this morning ! Most notably is the cooler temps this morning, I’m not complaining! 😉

Ron, that’s quite a flock this morning, your obviously feeding the whole army ! 😀

Drew, interesting observation on the post and thread board ! Kudos to BEF and you !

David, great news !

Looks like some inside time in the computer and hopefully some hiking time later today ! Need to get myself re familiarized with my rocking chair project.
I’m heading to Vermont on Sunday morning and will come home on Thursday. My hope is to get some much needed shop time on this project ! Will also need to get the lawn done but the primary goal is rockers !

Hope all have a good Wednesday! 🙏

For whoever wants to know, There is a thread on the Front Porch that explains why the numbers changed, go there and read all about it. You can even let the bus driver know if the brakes are on fire, but do it there. All I'm gonna say about it here, just a public service announcement.

70 deg, very little rain over night. might get the tractor out today and do something, but then again, as the leading procrastinator, I might not. need to eat first.

Good Morning.
70° and grey, both the sky and the temperature aren’t going to change much throughout the day, with rain likely.

Progress continues on the old folks home, yesterday got lots cleaned up for the insulators, but the big news was I got the heat pump fired up and making cold air.

IMG_4951.jpg

I’ll be powering it down and removing the thermostats before the foam gets sprayed, but I wanted to validate the system while everything was accessible.

I was supposed to get an excavator dropped off yesterday, but the truck that was going to haul it had a brake failure. Fortunately it was in the yard where they loaded it up on the trailer.
So today, I’m borrowing a truck and will haul it here myself and return their trailer.
I’ve got to dig trenches for propane, sewer and electric from the generator. All of which will keep me entertained.

We have gotten over an inch of rain in the last 24 hours, that means I’ll have to mow again soon as well. So between the excavator, tractor and Lazer, I’ve got some tractor related content.

Good morning! 73˚F heading to 101˚ clear skies. We are under a heat advisory till tomorrow at 8PM, and air quality alert because it's a high ozone day. Sure would be nice to get some of that East coast rain. I still have two fig trees to transplant, might venture outside early to plant them and give the transplanted date trees a good watering.

Some companies are also disqualifying me because of losses due to natural causes (wind and wildfire) in an entirely different house 700 miles away.
Sorry to learn that RNG. I recently contributed to this problem although I didn't want to. A tree went through the roof of our ski cabin. I thought about DIY repair but eventually did turn it into insurance. Wow. $57,000 claim is their estimate just so far. Prices for construction in rural areas is crazy. I would have guessed $15-20K tops.

60F now headed to 98F. Friend of mine (electrician) did an electrical upgrade to our ranch property yesterday. Pulled out an old Zinsco panel and replaced with a new one. Lots of past wiring blunders and problems as house is from the 1800's. Friend removed a 30a receptacle on the wall, found it was fed by small gauge wire not even close to 30a. Lots of stuff like that. Reminded me of Phil finding wires in the wall but not even a box-- whoops.

Everyone have a great day!!

Morning all, 73 going to 74 and more rain, usually August is dry here, oh well.

Had about 2" of rain last night and a few short power outages.

Sorry about your MIL Wngsprd -

Sodamo - hope the news on Sophies eyes keeps on the great side. This should make her very happy

PopGadget - amazing journey watching the house being built.

Our trips next stop was to Berkely and US Davis, USD is off the beaten path in farm country, miles of nuts, fruits etc.

Then the long drive back to see Muir woods. For the woods you need to reserve and pay for a parking spot and a time slot in advance, or you'll be disappointed. Our time slot was 4:30-5 and we got there at 4:35!

Muir woods is very walkable with good paths and many spots to rest. Everytime I saw a downed tree, I was thinking how nice a table it would make

The golden gate bridge was a bit foggy, it's in there somewhere. We found a spot on the far side to stop, much less crowded than the SF side.

Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 6:00AM. Foggy early, becoming sunny this afternoon. High near 80F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.

Time got away from me yesterday morning and I almost missed my appointment with the DMV. Made it right on time, even after the GPS in the car kept me driving by a place a block away. Finally found fresh corn on the cob on the third store I tried. Felt foolish walking out of there with just three ears of corn, but I like it fresh, and that's all I can eat in as many days.

Settled on an insurance company for the house and set the wheels in motion for coverage. I'm a little bit worried that it's what I think is called an "unlisted" agency, which means they are out of state and don't adhere to California financial guidelines. But California being as messed up as it is, that could be a good thing.

Riding buddy seems to have made a full recovery, enough so I got a hard time about not having a radio on my bike to communicate with them. I actually did have the radio, but haven't figured out how to get it to work with the rest of my comms, and was hoping to do that last weekend with another partner we'd planned to meet along the way. I view these two way radios as a luxury: Nice to have but like the internet, somewhat unreliable. Enough so that it shouldn't replace simple ground rules for riding in a group, like waiting for others to catch up at turns, or stopping in a safe place if you're having issues. There's also a library of standard hand signals that everyone in the group should be familiar with, and no one in this group is.

Think I'll resume my search for a family doctor today, lowering my standards and ending up with a clinic of some sort with no assigned doctor. Kinda like Kaiser where each year when I went in for a physical and the doctor they assigned last time had moved on, so nothing new. Better than nothing, which is what I've had for almost two years now.

You run across the strangest things on the internet:

Happy Hump Day, folks!

GM Paul, definitely thinking ahead there !

Kind of curious if you have any excavator experience or running a backhoe ? I know I don’t and have often wondered how many hours behind the controls to become efficient ?

Good luck with the trenching !

It should only take you about 5 hours to teach your hands what to do without thinking about it too hard.
most excavators have a road map on them to tell you where to put the hand control for what you want to do. Small movements work best.

Good morning! Low of 56°, going to 92°. Slight chance of a thunderstorm, only 20%. Tomorrow is forecast for a 70% chance of storms. I think I heard that before.....

Wng, sorry to hear about the MIL. Tough on the wife for sure.

Wifey got sick overnight, not too good this morning either.... started some antibiotics. Hopefully she'll get better quickly, we're planning on going back up to Colorado this weekend.

Drip irrigation on the agenda again today. Can't rely on mother nature for moisture.....

Finally got through the disorganization of the PT practice yesterday, only to find out there were 2 sessions approved last time that were never scheduled (???). They are still waiting for insurance approval for the next batch of sessions.

But, they squeezed me in for a session yesterday afternoon.... with the owner of the practice. We had a good discussion about the confusion..... she was not happy ---- money out the window from her perspective.

Everyone have a great day!

Mmmm, went out to switch irrigation zones..... spotted a visitor...
.IMG_1404.jpeg
Looks to be a small bullsnake, definitely not a rattlesnake, so he can stay, just get relocated to another area.

The birds aren't happy.... he is on their perch where they get drinks. Interesting watching them watching the snake.

68°F and .01 inches rain.

Today pretty much a repeat of yesterday. Sophie has followup with ophthalmologist. Feeling a bit better today. Dr yesterday liked what he saw after removing patch. Pressure was 39, up from 3 last week, which is good. Did prescribe meds to lower pressure and likely that will get adjusted today. Too high a pressure not good and can be painful.

Spent the afternoon with Sophie’s BX tractor with mower attacking the former pasture on Laupahoehoe end of our rural acreage. About an hour more needed to complete. Likely hit the Hilo acreage this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Ted, hope your wife feels better

back from all those errands, MIL loved the cherry tomatoes and
was happy to get the amaryllis back.
But I had this last Christmas!
yup, and it's back to do it again.

picked up the George School blanket for my sister and checked on my friend's home.
no water in her basement.
her sump pump is terrible, going to get her to dig a bigger hole and put the pump down in the hole.
Pump was almost at floor level and the hole was not much more than opening in concrete.
very inadequate.
I dumped the water from the dehumidifier into the hole and manually turned on the pump, at least it worked.
but the whole floor would be flooded before current setup does any good.

it's been so dry here that last inch and half rain was just sucked right up.
Lake Drew is a meager four inches wide...

grass sure is green again. Not sure when it will be dry enough to mow again.
