That is more of a grass and weed cutter than stick cutter. A stick and branch cutter would have hammers vs the knives on that machine.
On a positive note that is a great price on the Mott mower which you may want to keep.

And you may be able to get "hammers" for it. Someone with more knowledge of Mott can say definitely

Flailmaster.com has blades and parts for a lot of flail mowers.

If it checks out mechanically, you got a steal there
I have been running a 60 inch for many years, very nice cut, and easy to get parts for

Well good to hear it was a good buy either way! Its missing several blades… before I buy them does anyone know if I can throw brush style blades on this mower? Also any suggestions for gearbox oil?

Hello and good afternoon Jcichy71,

I want to welcome you as the newest resident member of the "Flail Mower Nations".

You have a mott fine cut flail mower that you can use to also mow brush with.

90 weight gear oil is what you need for the gearbox.

You will have to check with flailmaster to see if they have a heavier heat treated side slicer knife for it if you
want to change all 166 knives.

You need to mount the same model and part no. knife on this mower to maintain a balanced flail mower rotor.

A real bargain!

All signs point toward Failmaster to see your options for blades and blade holding hardware. The fine cut may run a different rotor than the SHD.

Need blades in all positions to run properly.

Should have a properly adjusted slip clutch on the driveline also.

Awesome I’ll have to touch base with them and see what my options are. The slip clutch goes between the gearbox and the PTO shaft correct? It came with a PTO shaft, but it is in rough shape. I don’t even know if it’s useable

Check your size. Easier to make shorter than longer.
Wow, that's a good price - with the slip clutch. I have bought several Vevor branded (China) tools lately. All good quality.

That mott is a fine cut flail. The longer blades indicate that it uses a pin style blade with 92 stations for 184 blades. The fine cut blades are 4.7" long and 0.087" thick. The standard course cut blades are 3" tall 0.106" thick and mounted on a ring to allow them to swing out of the way. If you try to cut brush with this mower it will most likely bend the blades up.

The driveline on my SHD88 was a Bondioli Pavasi series 5, the series 6 that Smokeydog linked should work as it is what I used on my SHD88. I have course cut blades and am not impressed with the brush cutting capabilities, it works great in thick once or twice a year cut grass but woody brush just gets defoliated.

Covered it well, fine cut are the only blades that will work on that flail. I have had mine for sale for several months now but every call has been wanting something to use for heavier cutting that it clearly will not do.

Ok so knowing I need to replace blades anyways, I can’t just take these all off and put on brush blades?

There are NO brush blades made for this model, grass or soft grassy type weeds only.

Even the SHD74 with heavier, thicker blades is rated at 1” . Mulch the heck out of 6’ tall tough fall weeds.

So where does it stand with like multi floral rose bush? My end game here was to maintain old logging trails at a hunting lease. I’m not cutting down trees or making new trails but its more than just tall grass. Should I kick this one down the road for a rotary brush hog?
