actually the sad thing is how often this goes on, the fake slip and fall and injury claims, always inside or just outside well insured restaurants or malls.
Years ago a deputy sheriff rammed the back of my 4Runner, giving me a good case of whiplash that didn't show up for a couple days. I shrugged it off and didn't go to a doctor, and later learned that no money hungry attorney would take my personal injury case as I had no proof of soft tissue injury. Had to settle for damages in small claims court, which barely covered the damage on the 'Runner.

Good Morning!!!! 58F @ 8:15AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High near 80F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.

A buddy and I made it out to the coast on Sunday, to a little spot called Ragged Point. There's an inn and restaurant there, and outside they had a blues band playing across the lawn from a smoker selling tri tip. That made for a delicious lunch. Since I'd never done it, we hiked down the quarter mile cliff trail to the black sand beach. The trail started well enough with some stairs, but deteriorated as we went. The last bit of stair was missing the treads and ended with a four foot drop. Several lengths of trail had been washed away and poorly replaced, causing us to slide more than walk. At the bottom we found a dribbling waterfall, then a final ten foot drop over a boulder that exercised our rock climbing skills. A couple guys ahead of us carried a full sized cooler of beer down there somehow. Lots of pretty views, and a refreshing breeze and comfortable spot to rest at the bottom. Worked up a good sweat on the climb back up, which was somehow easier on the legs.

Got another hike in yesterday at the old mission with the dog, which helped work the soreness out from the day before. My friend sent me home with some carpet I'll use to pad the tarp over the wood pile, and a carpet cleaning machine they never used. It'll get used, or if I can't get it running, go in a future garage sale.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start.

69°F and .04 inches rain

Fish and chips were very good. Actually I had the scallop and calamari combo. Sophie had the Ono.

Hope I get to have a productive chat with LS tech this morning. Rain in forecast but I’m hopeful to start mowing with the BX.

Still adjusting water flow in gutter garden 1 minute every 3 hours. Probably should get an actual moisture meter. Currently I’m judging by how much drains out.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

67F and sunny @ 12:30, calling for a high of around 75F for the day.

Woman was up when I got up, immediately announced She was heading back to bed ... :(

Just saw groundhog out back. Good to see it's getting used to going out there ... should give a chance for a clear shot at some point.

Banking and bill payment scheduling done yesterday first thing.

Then got another gallon of stink juice made up.

Think the recipe I used this time around is a little different than the first time ... uses 3 eggs instead of one. Also calls for 3 tablespoons of cayenne powder and 3 cloves of crushed garlic (I used 4), and 3 tablespoons of milk.

It's been purifying since yesterday ... will set it out in the sun here in a little bit so it can get good and stinky.

After I got that done I loaded the sprayer with the rest of the juice from last year and sprayed the newly planted hosta ... plus the hosta and rhododendrons in that northwest planting bed. The rhododendrons have recovered and leafed out really well after being browsed heavily last fall/winter. Will need to get those wrapped with netting so they don't get picked at again this year.

Moved the Water Buffalo around to the little planting bed in the 2nd circle where the van gets parked after that and watered everything that is left there. It's a mess from neglect and being heavily browsed ... needs more mulch added.

Then took the WB up and watered the gingko tree and a couple Rose of Sharons, emptying it. The gingko tree has done very well this year ... putting up a pair of straight trunks which are a little less than 6' tall.

Took the WB around back after that and got it refilled, then moved it up to the west side where it could sit in the shade.

Woman was wanting Chinese for dinner at that point so I placed the order and headed out to pick it up. Swung by DG to pick up a couple more cans of cat food. Had to settle for 9 Lives rather than their usual Friskies. It was Seafood ... and surprisingly they didn't turn their noses up at it ... (y)

Friend texted me about driving down to Marietta with the van to pick up a 1 1/2 HP hit-n-miss engine later this week, supposedly weighs around 400 lbs. Told him I would.

Got a little more clean up done out in the garage after dinner and that was it for the day.

Woman said yesterday She would consider going to the doctor today if She wasn't feeling any better. No idea where things are at on that but I did just hear Her up and moving around so I guess we'll see here in a few.

Trash/recycle day was delayed due to the holiday so I need to get the garbage and recyclables taken up to the cans at the road.

Other than that agenda for the rest of the day will be to work on the stuff I didn't get done yesterday.

Hope everyone is having a decent Tuesday ... (y)

Hope everyone is well. Been away in CA at our ranch bucking rounds and splitting wood. Now I'm sore in places I didn't know you could get sore in. 😄

We saw two fawns, on the back lawn, very close to the house, and all by themselves. No doe in sight. Seemed very odd.

Wife and I were worried that maybe a cougar had gotten the doe. We don't often seen fawns out on their own. After a little research it appears they are viable anytime August 10 or later, presuming birth date by June 1. So I guess the little guys are OK on their own. They eventually wandered away.

Next day, was approaching and very near one of our gates before I realized a buck was at the gate standing stone still. I stopped and we looked at each other for maybe a minute. Then I slowly backed away, and stopped again. Presto-- first the doe came out of the nearby forest, with the two fawns behind her! Then the buck, doe, and both fawns took off together toward our apple orchard.

I guess we get pretty tangled up in wildlife at our place. One of the reasons we continue to own it I guess. Here is one of the fawns on my rear lawn.

Everyone have a great day !!!

...I think I am getting accustomed to being chauffeured around. :)
LOL.

Same boat, different oar.

I have had my fill of driving, especially trying to get into our Nations Capital over my career. It was not uncommon to average six (6) hours a day on the roads. And that was leaving at o'dark thirty and getting back in the nighttime too.

If someone else wants to drive, OK by me.

Did you ever figure out your pay based on putting in 14 hour days (8 hr work, 6 hr drive)?
That's what killed the joy of work for a lot of my coworkers.
My commute was ~1.3 mile each way.

AC guys got back already, repair is now just $700 less than a new unit, that I priced in VA where I bought these ones. I would have to run down to Roanoke to pick up, but they have it in stock. I would do the install, like the original, but now have to remove and reinstall duct work.
If i fix the old one, I still have doubts about compressor life. I bought it in oct 2009, so almost 15 yrs old already. (time flies). Got it installed 2 yrs later, so ran 13 yrs. New one would be over $1k more than what I paid before, or about 25% increase. I'm trying to find out how long it's been sitting in their warehouse.

spent some time trying to work out a trip up to MI and WI this fall.
