No. I lube both sides of the balls on both ends and wiggle/twist them around a few times to get a thorough coating. Super Lube or white lithium grease if I'm out of that. Every 8 hrs minimum. But usually more often.

I find chain lube for motorcycles works really well for these joints as well very sticky and will penetrate well also.

@3rd Coast

That grease is a new one on me.

There isn't a weep hole there to my knowledge. Is the bolt tight? In other words, if the bolt were tighter would it cover that hole and direct grease inside?

Not related, just me being curious; what brand / type of grease is that?

All the best,

Peter

Good call, I had white lithium on hand and I don't really like it.

When I was in to bikes I used a lot of Tri Flow which is a teflon spray. Really good stuff, but expensive.

To me it would have to be cracked to squirt out like that. Unless it really is an unusual grease bolt. Unsure how tight it is, I cant spin it or move it by hand. I couldn't find a torque spec for it in the manuals either. Does anyone have one?

No luck sourcing this size grease bolt either, must be a PT special.

Edit: That is just Lucas Red and Tacky. I get it for $3.87 a cartridge at work.

I think mines an '01 as well. #16312. Purchased January '03. Anywho, I've got the 3 zerk treadle.

My top center pin seems to be shooting grease out of a weep hole instead of greasing. Is there a procedure for pulling this pin out? Like shore up both halves first? I've got a part# in the manual here of HB075X318 - 3/4" -16 x 3 1/8" Hex Bolt(Special). Is this a PT part#?

Also my manual shows a lube point location B, each side of the lift arm hinge-at frame. There's no zerks there, is that correct?
I seem to recall some zerks lists on the arms in the manual that are not there on my 2001 model. Is I remember, I called Power Trac and they said that indeed, they were not there. Never took them out of the manual.

Hmmmm. Seems something is amiss there. That's the top center link, correct?

Yes. Bottom one worked as it should for the most part but seemed to favor the bottom of the bearing. I'll pull them both tonight, run 'em through the ultrasonic cleaner and see if we can find a problem with the top one.

IIRC: Terry once mentioned in passing that the bolts are made by PT, but I don't know if that is true for all of the grease through bolts. I was asking why the steering cylinders didn't have them, and he said because it made the bolts too weak.

All the best,

I'm glad you brought that up. I had the same question about the steering rams. My PT has been feeling a little loose back and forth for the last year or two, doesn't make any repeatable noises but I've heard some shifty clunks in the past. Might be that bolt is toast.
