Hello everyone, ym2210
I've have about 9" of play in my steering wheel for 5 years now. The play in only in the steering wheel, and shaft. it's not spinning loose on the shaft, so that would be the wheel and the shaft that have the play. I no the 1/2 moon key is broken off, because I can get the wheel off of the shaft. I just replaced the sector shaft, and I was wondering if anyone might have some info for me in how this can be fixed.

Do you have the,
YANMAR YM2210 PARTS MANUAL - EARLY MODEL.pdf
and
YANMAR YM2210 PARTS MANUAL NPC-9013.pdf
to review the parts diagrams?
From there, you should be able to rebuild it using the,
YANMAR YM276 SERVICE MANUAL 3T84HA.pdf

All found on the YTOG for free.

Look over these two sections in the YM276 Service Manual.

If you replaced the sector shaft you evidently overhauled the unit. If that is the case then you had to have done something wrong in your overhaul. Did you follow the Hoye instructions?

"I've have about 9" of play in my steering wheel for 5 years now. The play in only in the steering wheel, and shaft. "
Thought that was a huge amount of play and no wonder. Fredricks parts clearly states which so add up to the continuous problem is with the wrong steering wheel itself! The steering wheel on 2210 requires a SW-420 which is required for 2210,2210B
Steering Wheel SC-4166 Steering shaft and Worm gear is used from the 1600 - 2420 The 2210 number itself is not listed and it's noted of the correct steering wheel.
My guess Super rare Bearings themselves are different and not included so it adding up to that bad of a problem. I'd check into that.. ;)
